Bullet rips through Sam’s Club wall and kills worker doing inventory

A confrontation outside a Nashville lounge turned fatal early in the morning when a stray bullet ripped through the metal exterior of a nearby Sam’s Club and killed a Frito-Lay employee who was working inside, police said.

Authorities identified the victim as 55-year-old Paris Carlock of Murfreesboro. He was doing product inventory in the chip aisle near the center of the store shortly after 4 a.m. when he was struck in the head by the bullet.

Employees at Sam’s Club tried to help Carlock before emergency crews took him to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department said.

Detectives believe the shooting was tied to a dispute that started inside Lavo Lounge on Antioch Pike, located a short distance from the Sam’s Club.

According to police, security staff escorted the people involved out of the lounge, but the argument continued outside. As several vehicles drove away from the scene, gunfire rang out.
