Police have found almost a dozen “dangerous” pipe bombs on the street in the nation’s capital, urging residents to be wary of more suspicious devices.
Several reports have been made in the last two days of explosive devices being found in Canberra, according to police.

Recent sightings in the area around Lake Ginninderra, specifically between Joynton Smith Drive and Ginninderra Drive in Belconnen, have raised concerns in the north-west region of the city.

Detective Inspector Anna Wronski has confirmed the discovery of 11 devices, noting that they were located near walkways and on grassy verges.

“Some of these devices had already exploded before police arrived, while others remained intact,” she stated.

Importantly, Wronski assured that there have been no reports of injuries or property damage as a result of these explosions.

It is not known if any have been seen in other parts of Canberra.

In images released by ACT Policing, the devices are grey and cylindrical, with what appear to be twist tops at either end.

While authorities have received no evidence suggesting additional devices are present elsewhere in the city, they are urging the community to remain vigilant.

Residents are advised to avoid handling such devices and to notify the police immediately if any suspicious items are spotted.
