Nine days have passed since Nancy Guthrie, 84, vanished from her Tucson, Arizona home, triggering a widespread search and investigation. Her disappearance has captured national attention, largely due to the involvement of her daughter, Savannah, a well-known co-anchor of the Today show, who has been tirelessly advocating for information about her mother’s whereabouts.
Savannah has made numerous public appeals, urging anyone with knowledge of her mother’s situation to come forward. She has been particularly vocal on social media, addressing potential captors directly and offering a reward for her mother’s safe return. Her emotional outreach underscores the urgency and desperation felt by the family during this distressing time.
In a deeply personal video shared on her Instagram, Savannah expressed heartfelt gratitude to her followers for their unwavering support. “I just want to say thank you so much for all of the prayers and love that we have felt,” she said, acknowledging the encouragement that she, alongside her siblings, has received. “We believe that somehow, in some way, she is feeling these prayers, and that God is lifting her even in this moment.”
The investigation has been marked by a flood of communication to law enforcement and media outlets, ranging from helpful tips to more sinister ransom demands. Each piece of information is being scrutinized in the hope of finding a lead that will bring Nancy Guthrie back home safely.
“Because we believe that, somehow, some way, she is feeling these prayers, and that God is lifting her even in this moment.”
Police and media outlets have received multiple messages relating to the case, both in the form of tips and, more chillingly, ransom demands.
One deadline for ransom has already passed but another was set for late Monday local time – not long after Savannah Guthrie posted her latest video.
Police have not said whether they believe any of the demands are authentic.
