Shattered father-in-law of Thomas Sewell reveals how the couple met

The heartbroken father of a woman engaged to marry Australia’s infamous neo-Nazi has broken his silence, expressing the ‘very challenging situation’ his family is currently facing.

Rebecca ‘Bec’ Lee is the long-time fiancée of National Socialist Network (NSN) leader Thomas Sewell.

Her father, who remains unnamed by the Daily Mail, expressed his family’s anguish over their daughter’s involvement with Sewell, a figure known for his extremist group that advocates white supremacy and anti-Semitism.

‘We are in a very challenging position with our daughter entangled with him,’ he conveyed to the Daily Mail from behind a mesh security door at his home in Melbourne’s inner east.

‘We do not share racist views.

‘It’s tough, because she [Lee] has children with him [Sewell], and we don’t want to lose the relationship with our granddaughters.’

The Daily Mail does not suggest Ms Lee is racist, simply that she is engaged to a neo-Nazi, and has supported him outside court.

Lee’s father revealed that his family does not accept Sewell despite the couple’s relationship dating back to 2019 and their newly announced engagement—contrary to rumors suggesting they are married.

‘We want nothing to do with him.’

He said he could not pinpoint exactly when his daughter became involved with Sewell but believed the two crossed paths at high school.

The pair were students one year apart at Balwyn High School, a co-educational school with a student population of predominantly Asian heritage.

Lee’s father confirmed the family has minimal contact with her, but cling to the hope that one day she will break free from Sewell.

The NSN leadership actively encourages members to pair off and start families.

During an online broadcast, Sewell stated: ‘This is the future we want for our offspring in the ethnostate we’re establishing. I will urge my children to marry at 18, 19, or 20 years old to ensure they start families as early as possible.’

In private Telegram discussions, female participants assume a ‘traditional wife’ persona, advocating motherhood as their foremost duty while sharing images of themselves in conservative attire.

‘What a wonderful year it’s been… welcoming so many healthy white babies,’ one caption reads.

Ms Lee has been photographed alongside Sewell at various court appearances over  the years – often make-up free, wearing the same peasant-style dress – a far cry from before she was romantically linked to Sewell.

Unearthed photos from 2013 capture a very different-looking young woman – copper-coloured hair, a graphic tee and a carefree smile at Melbourne dive bar Liberty Social – a world away from the tradwife image she projects today.

Ms Lee has described Sewell as a dedicated partner and father who supported her through sleepless nights without complaint in a testimonial provided for a court appearance following his arrest for attacking a group of hikers in 2021.

At a recent court appearance, Detective Senior Constable Saer Pascoe told Melbourne Magistrates’ Court the young couple had been evicted from their Wantirna South home and were living between a holiday campervan and his in-laws’ Balwyn home with the couple’s young daughters, aged two and eight months.

Lee’s father said the couple do not live at their property.

‘She does not live here, she was living in Queensland when Thomas got arrested she returned, she’s living with friends somewhere.’

Sewell appeared in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court earlier this month after he was charged over an alleged attack on Camp Sovereignty, a First Nations protest site at King’s Domain in central Melbourne.

Police allege Sewell led a group of NSN members from an anti-immigration rally directly into the camp, where violence quickly erupted.

Several people were injured, including a woman who required staples to treat a head wound and others treated for cuts and bruises.

Sewell faces 25 charges, including violent disorder, affray, assault and discharging a missile.

The magistrate refused him bail, ruling she was ‘satisfied he would endanger the safety of others if released into the community’.

Outside court, the mother-of-two stood flanked by NSN supporters, and delivered a rehearsed statement accusing Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan of being behind Sewell’s arrest.

‘This is Jacinta Allan’s fault… because she hates Australians,’ she said.
