A woman has been charged with attempted murder after an alleged stabbing and small fire at a home in Brisbane last week.
Pierina Daidone-Zumbo was arrested after neighbours and a jogger pulled her partner Roberto Zumbo from the balcony of a home in Grange, a suburb in Brisbane’s north, about 5.20am last Thursday.
Police alleged the 44-year-old had stabbed her 43-year-old partner in the chest then allegedly set fire to items inside the house, including books and clothes.
Detective Superintendent Andrew Massingham said police allege Daidone-Zumbo plunged a 20cm serrated kitchen knife into Zumbo’s as he was having a cup of coffee on the balcony.
The stab wound just missed his heart, he said.
The 43-year-old was taken to hospital in a critical condition and has since undergone surgery.
Massingham said it was ”extremely lucky” the jogger was passing the house and that neighbours also heard screams and called triple-zero.
Daidone-Zumbo was arrested at the property and also taken to hospital but in a stable condition.
She was charged today with two domestic violence-related offences, attempted murder and endangering property by fire.
She is expected to appear at Brisbane Magistrates Court tomorrow.
