In a growing wave of discontent, numerous Australians are demanding the resignation of Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan following her delayed reaction to a tragic incident involving a young Good Samaritan. The calls for Allan’s resignation highlight the public’s dissatisfaction with her handling of the situation.
The heart-wrenching event unfolded when Aidan Becker, a 22-year-old security guard in Melbourne, was reportedly attacked and fatally stabbed. Becker’s act of bravery occurred as he attempted to protect a 14-year-old schoolboy from being robbed by a group of assailants near the Mernda train station in the city’s north-east last Friday night.
In a heroic effort, Becker led the teenager away from the threatening group. However, the attackers pursued them and allegedly turned their aggression towards Becker, resulting in a brutal assault involving punching, kicking, and an edged weapon.
Subsequently, an 18-year-old man and two teenagers, aged 16 and 17, have been charged with murder and armed robbery. They are currently held in custody as the investigation continues.
Criticism of Allan intensified after she spent the weekend enjoying VIP access at the Formula One Australian Grand Prix, only addressing the tragedy on social media the following Monday. She expressed her shock and sadness over the loss of Mr. Becker and outlined measures being taken to address the violence.
In response, Allan announced the deployment of the Violence Reduction Unit in the Mernda area, working in collaboration with law enforcement to curb the spread of such violence. She also assured the public of implementing stronger consequences and early intervention strategies to prevent further incidents.
No-nonsense influencer Chris Katelaris, aka ‘Big Chocky’, led the backlash against the Premier following a recent spate of alleged machete attacks, despite a fast-tracked statewide ban implemented on the weapons six months ago.
The latest alleged machete attack was on Sunday night in the Melbourne CBD.

‘There have been machete attacks galore in Melbourne for the last six to eight months,’ Mr Katelaris said in a video he captioned, ‘We’ve had enough of her lies’.
‘What’s changed, where is the early intervention?
‘She is nothing but reactive. She is not proactive, her state is failing.’
He called challenged the Premier’s claims that 25,000 weapons were handed back during the recent state government machete amnesty, referencing the national response to the 1996 Port Arthur massacre.
‘Remember Port Arthur, we saw videos of thousands of firearms being handed back,’ Mr Katelaris continued.
‘We haven’t seen squat out of this.
‘Aidan’s family is in mourning. And what does she do on a Sunday? She goes to the Formula One with a VIP lanyard around her neck.
‘It doesn’t change the way she lives her life, but it has completely changed the Becker family for the rest of their lives.’

Many viewers agreed, as the next state election looms.
‘Bring on November! Can’t wait to see the end of her!’ one commented.
Another added: ‘This segment accurately captures the views held by the majority of Victorians.’
A third wrote: ‘How was the Grand Prix Jacinta? Just making sure the taxpayers’ dollars are going to good use are we, while this poor young boy lost his life protecting someone, which is where the dollars should be going.
‘You should be spending to protect this state and now the state is in mourning over another innocent life lost.’
The outrage at Allan’s video on her social media was just as brutal.
‘You’re a mother too yeah? Have you reached out to Aidan’s mother to apologise about this? You need to resign over this today as you let this happen,’ one woman fumed.
Journalist Tony Tardio wrote: ‘This incident happened on Friday and the Premier has finally got around to posting something. This person is not taking any responsibility for the youth crime crisis her government’s policies have caused. Her words are meaningless tripe.’
A third added: ‘It’s very apparent you’re allergic to accountability! This young man deserves more than your below-average scripted Instagram reel!! Atrocious at best!’

A fourth boy who remains in hospital under police guard has not yet been charged over Mr Becker’s death.
Mike Pikos, 18, fronted Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Sunday, where he was remanded in custody to reappear on June 24.
The two other teens charged will also reappear in a Children’s Court at a later date.
It’s understood the alleged offenders were known to police. None of the group were on bail at the time of the attack.
‘It’s cowardly, it’s shocking. It’s not something we want to see in our streets,’ Detective Acting Inspector Nigel L’Estrange said.
‘The community shouldn’t have to put up with [these] sort of attacks. [The alleged victim has] just tried to do the right thing. He hasn’t been aggressive at all.’
