Newly-released footage has emerged, reportedly capturing Nick Reiner at a California gas station just before his arrest for the alleged murder of his parents.

According to KABC, the video shows 32-year-old Nick Reiner dressed in a black cap and tracksuit jacket, buying a drink at the convenience store. Shortly after, an individual, possibly an officer, is seen walking through the store while Reiner stands in line to make his purchase.

Subsequent footage, as reported by KABC, depicts Nick Reiner walking as a Los Angeles police vehicle speeds to the scene. An officer exits the cruiser, at which point Reiner raises his hands and is detained.

Charges against Nick Reiner include two counts of first-degree murder with special circumstances for the deaths of his parents, Rob and Michelle Reiner. Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman has indicated that Reiner also faces an additional charge for allegedly using a knife in the murders, as reported by The Los Angeles Times.

While Nick Reiner was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, his attorney, Alan Jackson, stated that he was not medically cleared to be moved from jail to the Los Angeles County Courthouse. Jackson did not disclose specifics regarding Reiner’s medical condition.

Nick Reiner is accused of fatally stabbing his parents, Rob and Michelle Reiner, aged 78 and 68, respectively, at their Brentwood residence on Sunday. A source from law enforcement informed The Los Angeles Times that police apprehended Reiner hours later in South Los Angeles, near the University of Southern California.

Hours before the slaying, Nick Reiner allegedly got into an argument with his parents at a Christmas party held by comedian Conan O’Brien. Reports indicated that Rob and Michelle Reiner’s daughter discovered their bodies.

Family friends told The Los Angeles Times that Nick Reiner was staying in a guesthouse on his parents’ property. They also claimed that Michelle Reiner grew increasingly concerned about her son’s mental health in the weeks leading up to her murder.

According to the law enforcement source who spoke with The Los Angeles Times, Nick Reiner is on suicide watch and is under special supervision. He remains jailed without bond.
