President Trump emphasized on Sunday that international firms should prioritize hiring and training American workers while adhering to immigration laws. This statement comes after a raid at a Hyundai manufacturing facility in Georgia.

Following the raid, South Korea is working to repatriate approximately 300 of its citizens who were detained. U.S. federal officials apprehended around 475 workers at the Hyundai car battery plant in Ellabell, Georgia, last Thursday.

Trump wrote on Truth Social, “In light of the recent Immigration Enforcement at the Hyundai Battery Plant in Georgia, I urge all foreign businesses investing in America to honor our immigration regulations.”

He continued, “We welcome your investments and support you in legally bringing talented individuals with the technical expertise to produce superior products. We will ensure the process is swift and legal. In return, we ask that you also focus on hiring and training American workers.”

Trump shared these thoughts after mentioning to reporters that he would investigate the matter, noting that the situation had not negatively impacted his relationship with South Korea.

Additionally, he considered the prospect of allowing some foreign manufacturing specialists to enter the country to assist in training American workers.

The South Korean government has expressed regret about the arrests and the release of the footage showing the operation involving armored vehicles detaining the workers who were shackled and taken in.
