Bills star reveals what he told NFL rival to spark sucker punch

Bills pass rusher Bradley Chubb has revealed the trash talk that preceded his confrontation with Los Angeles Rams offensive lineman Alaric Jackson, who punched him after their Monday Night Football showdown.

The altercation overshadowed a dramatic game at SoFi Stadium, where Buffalo secured a 37-34 overtime victory.

Tempers boiled over after Tyler Bass kicked the winning field goal, with players from both teams exchanging handshakes and jerseys on the field.

Chubb was seen pointing toward Jackson from midfield before the Rams lineman approached him. Jackson got in Chubb’s face and threw a punch that knocked the Bills star’s hat off.

Chubb has now explained what triggered Jackson’s furious response.

‘I went up to him, and I said: “Hey, we’re gonna see y’all a** again, and when we see y’all again, that chipping ain’t gonna save you, that tight end, that guard, that’s not going to save you,”‘ the 30-year-old said.

‘Then he said: “What’d you say?” and walked up to me… and I said: “That chip is not gonna save you, that guard is not gonna save you.” And then boom.’

Teammates rushed in after the punch to prevent the situation from escalating. Rams tight end Colby Parkinson was among the first to intervene, with Shaun Dolac also helping to calm Jackson.

‘It’s an emotional game, all tempers flaring,’ Chubb continued. ‘At the time of the punch, you know, so many different ways you can react. Everybody wants you to react a certain way; everybody wants you to do a certain thing. But I got to think about where I’m at, what situation I’m in. My team needs me.’

He added: ‘They brought me here to play and to be a leader, and I feel like if I would’ve reacted, if I would’ve done anything, in both of those situations, I’m not doing what they brought me here to do.’

Jackson was suspended for two games earlier this week because of the post-game altercation.

The Rams lineman will miss games against the Arizona Cardinals and Las Vegas Raiders before becoming eligible to return to the active roster on Monday, October 26.

The NFL confirmed the discipline in a statement, saying Jackson had ‘violated Rule 12, Section 3, Article 1, which applies to “any act which is contrary to the generally understood principles of sportsmanship.”‘

Jackson signed a three-year, $57 million contract extension with the Rams in 2025, but he encountered legal problems during the offseason before the new campaign.

He was accused of attacking his pregnant girlfriend in June, but no criminal charges were filed after he was arrested on suspicion of domestic battery on June 8.

Police were called to his San Fernando Valley home over an alleged dispute with the 38-year-old woman, who claimed she had been left with ‘scratches and bruises’. However, prosecutors said in July they would not be filing charges against Jackson ‘at this time.’

A spokesperson for the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office, Ivor Pine, confirmed the news to the California Post.

Pine said: ‘This matter has been assigned for a City Attorney Hearing, a pre-filing diversion available to eligible individuals that is an alternative to misdemeanor criminal prosecution.

‘Charges are not filed against the respondent at this time, however, the case stays open throughout the length of the statute of limitations. It can be re-evaluated if there are further developments.’

Jackson served a two-game suspension in 2024 under the NFL’s personal conduct policy for an undisclosed violation, later linked to him being named in a November 2025 civil lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court by a woman alleging he recorded her without consent during sex and refused to delete the video.

The plaintiff claimed the alleged incident occurred in May 2024 and reported it to the NFL. The lawsuit was eventually dismissed in April 2026 after being moved to federal court.
