Charlize Theron’s vehicle was allegedly taken from her residence in Los Angeles earlier this week on Thursday, marking her as the latest target amid the city’s rising crime wave.
The event unfolded on Thursday when someone gained access to the 50-year-old Oscar winner’s property through an open gate, according to LAPD sources who spoke with NBC4 Investigates.
The suspect proceeded to steal a BMW and at the time, the key fob had been inside the vehicle.
LAPD were able to track down the actress’s car amid their search for the suspect involved in the theft.
Daily Mail has reached out to Theron’s reps for comment.
The Hollywood icon joins a growing list of celebrities impacted by the escalating crime in Los Angeles, including recent incidents involving Tracee Ellis Ross and Brad Pitt.

Mere days before the theft at her Los Angeles residence, Theron took a rare trip with her oldest child, Jackson, 12, to Disneyland, enjoying some family time.
The actress was also joined by a group of Jackson’s close pals as they all had a blast at the Happiest Place on Earth.
They were seen nibbling on tasty treats inside the amusement park before going on a number of rides.
Theron notably adopted Jackson in back in 2012 and another child named August, nine, in 2015.
In another case of celebrity-targeted crimes, Tracee Ellis Ross endured a burglary earlier this month, with intruders making off with over $100,000 in jewelry and designer bags from her home.
The actress’ Los Angeles home was burglarized on Tuesday, according to KNBC. Ross was not home at the time of the intrusion.
The burglary was reported around 12:30 a.m. local time on September 2, after staff arrived and found the home had been ransacked.
According to police, three people entered the property through a glass door.

Earlier this month, Tracee Ellis Ross was another victim of recent Hollywood break-ins, with thieves stealing more than $100,000 worth of jewelry and handbags from the star’s home; seen in January in L.A.
Police have obtained security camera footage from the home, and the investigation is still ongoing.
Ross is the daughter of Motown legend Diana Ross and Robert Ellis Silberstein.
The actress has won three NAACP Image Awards and a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Television Series Musical or Comedy for her role on ‘Black-ish.’
Last month Lionel Richie’s home was also broken into.
Unlike several recent high-profile burglaries that took place when the A-list stars were not home, Richie was reportedly in his house when a burglar broke in.
Police received a call about a burglary at the 76-year-old singer’s home in Beverly Hills shortly after midnight, the Beverly Hills Police Department told TMZ.
Luckily, Richie’s home was equipped with a security alarm that deterred the burglar, who reportedly fled before they had a chance to steel any of Richie’s valuables.
Police responding to the call reportedly arrested a man named Michael John Bond on suspicion of residential burglary.
However, formal charges have reportedly not yet been filed against the suspected burglar.

Police said that their investigation into the break-in continues, and detectives investigating the crime are currently poring over security cam footage from Richie’s property, among other evidence obtained from the scene.
The burglary at Richie’s home comes in the wake of another high-profile break-in at the home of Brad Pitt in Los Angeles’ Los Feliz neighborhood in late June.
Burglars appear to have timed their crime to when Pitt was out of town and on a trip to Japan to promote his racing drama F1, which was a hit with critics and at the box office.
Police recently announced a major development in the investigation with the arrest of three people suspected of burglarizing the actor’s home.
Police appear to have caught the trio of alleged thieves after they were allegedly linked to another burglary.
Detectives were reportedly able to use security footage taken from Pitt’s property to help identify the men.
However, police told NBC LA that the suspected burglars didn’t appear to be specifically targeting famous people.
Pitt was subsequently reported to have listed the home that was broken into.
In July, Teddi Mellencamp became the victim of an attempted burglary.
The former Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills star revealed that a security alarm – installed by her estranged husband Edwin Arroyave’s security company – had scared the thieves away.
