Chelsea captain Reece James has declared ‘the comeback is coming’ as he continues his recovery a hamstring injury.

James underwent surgery in December after sustaining the injury in Chelsea’s 2-0 loss to Everton at Goodison Park.

The 24-year-old underwent the procedure in Finland after careful consideration of clinical examinations and available treatment options.

The Blues skipper has provided an upbeat update on his progress as he seeks to return to play a part the closing stages of the season.

‘All these setbacks I took would break you, the comeback is coming,’ James wrote.

James shared a photo of him on the grass in Chelsea training kit with a football.

The photo appears to have been taken while the full back was in Doha last month.

Mail Sport reported last month that James had been joined in the Qatari capital by a member of the club’s medical staff as he continues his recovery.

James also shared photos with his Chelsea team-mates Enzo Fernandez and Marc Cucurella.

He returned to the UK to watch the Blues in action in the Carabao Cup final, where Mauricio Pochettino’s side suffered a 1-0 defeat after extra time to Liverpool last weekend.

James was seen congratulating his Chelsea team-mates after their 3-2 win over Leeds in the FA Cup fifth round on Wednesday at Stamford Bridge.

The Chelsea captain will hope to have a chance to secure a place in the England squad for Euro 2024, should he return the Blues for the run-in.

Chelsea are currently languishing in 11th in the Premier League, with hopes of qualifying for Europe appearing to rest on FA Cup success.
