ABC7 Chicago is now streaming 24/7. Click here to watch

“This event features 16 different manufacturers and 44 different models available for test drives throughout the weekend. It gives attendees the opportunity to become acquainted with the various vehicles and test drive them to determine if they are the right fit,” explained Jennifer Morand, the president of the Chicago Auto Show and the Chicago Automobile Trade Association.

ComEd said they awarded over $100 million in rebates for EV charging stations and fleet vehicles since launching the program last year.

The good news is that the funding keeps rolling on, giving drivers more opportunities to plug in and drive.

“In Illinois, we have nearly 150,000 electric vehicles, with 90% of them being registered in ComEd’s territory,” stated Christina Botero, a senior manager for beneficial electrification at ComEd. “The exciting part is that the growth in electric vehicle registrations in Illinois from 2024 to 2025 has been three to four times faster than the national average, showing a significant acceleration in adoption.”

The Chicago Drives Electric event ends on Sunday, October 5.
