Could the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs be preparing to add another explosive weapon to their offense?
Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs secured a 30-27 road victory over the division-rival Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, powered in large part by free-agent signing Kenneth Walker III. The running back piled up 177 yards and scored two touchdowns.
However, Kansas City paid a steep price for the win. Wide receivers Tyquan Thornton and Rashee Rice suffered troubling injuries. Thornton, who caught two touchdown passes against Las Vegas, could miss the rest of the season with a broken ankle, while Rice is sidelined indefinitely because of a hamstring strain. The Chiefs improved to 4-0.
That has fueled speculation about a reunion with former Chiefs star Tyreek Hill, once one of Mahomes’ favorite targets. Hill appeared to signal interest Sunday with a brief post on X: “hm.”
Kansas City is now reportedly weighing a midseason move for the former All-Pro, who has remained a free agent since suffering a serious knee injury with the Miami Dolphins last season.
As reported by The Athletic’s Michael Silver, the Chiefs have contacted Hill’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, to ask about the receiver’s availability this season. ESPN, meanwhile, reported that Kansas City reached out to Rosenhaus before Sunday’s injuries occurred. Our News Outlet has requested comment from Rosenhaus and Chiefs representatives.

According to Silver, Hill remains popular within the Chiefs organization and among former teammates including Mahomes, Travis Kelce and Chris Jones. All three are reportedly supportive of bringing the veteran receiver back to Kansas City.
The front office reportedly views Hill’s recovery from knee surgery as the primary hurdle to completing a deal, Silver wrote.
Hill’s time in Kansas City was not without controversy, but the speedy receiver known as “Cheetah” helped the franchise win Super Bowl LIV in February 2020. The Chiefs later traded him to the Dolphins, where he signed a four-year, $120 million contract extension in 2022.

Hill played in four games during the 2025 season before a knee injury ended his year. The setback also brought his time in Miami to an unhappy conclusion, and the Dolphins released him in February.
During his recovery, Hill has shared videos showing him completing beach workouts. Whether those sessions demonstrate that he is ready to run full-speed routes remains uncertain.
A six-time All-Pro, Hill has surpassed 1,000 receiving yards six times during his 10-year career. He has also faced several controversies dating back to his time at Oklahoma State, where he was accused of domestic violence in 2014.
Hill was subsequently dismissed from the football team and later pleaded guilty to domestic assault and battery by strangulation.

In 2019, the Kansas Department of Children and Families investigated after Hill’s three-year-old son suffered a broken arm. No charges were filed in connection with the case.
Hill and his estranged wife, Keeta Hill, are also involved in a contentious divorce. She has accused him of domestic violence in court filings, while Hill’s attorney has denied the allegations and characterized them as a “shakedown.”
Hill has not been charged with domestic violence in connection to his estranged wife’s allegations.
And back in May, Hill settled his lawsuit with the OnlyFans model accusing of intentionally breaking her leg in 2023.
‘I’m going to Disney World,’ Hill said as he left the Fort Lauderdale courtroom, as quoted by NBC Miami.
Hill was originally sued by model and influencer Sophie Hall in February of 2024 for allegedly breaking her leg at his house the previous June. Hall, 36, claimed in her lawsuit that the free-agent wide receiver, 32, shoved her to the ground in a ‘fit of anger’ after she ’embarrassed’ him during a casual training session at his Florida mansion. The incident left her with pins in her leg and persistent pain following reconstructive surgery.
