The Kansas City Chiefs wrapped up their 2025 home season with a bittersweet note, as they faced a defeat against the Denver Broncos. This game held special significance as it might have been the last time the remarkable Travis Kelce graced Arrowhead Stadium.
In a Christmas Day spectacle, the Chiefs welcomed the Broncos, while the stands buzzed with excitement. Among the sea of Kansas City fans, Taylor Swift was present, adding to the festive atmosphere of what could potentially be Kelce’s farewell appearance at Arrowhead.
Despite the anticipation and hope for a memorable victory, the Chiefs, along with their celebrated tight end, couldn’t secure a win, succumbing to the AFC West leaders with a final score of 20-13.
After the final whistle, Kelce lingered on the field, seemingly absorbing the electric energy of the Chiefs Kingdom one last time. He paused to savor the moment, gazing at the cheering crowd with a hint of a smile.
In a touching gesture, he moved towards the passionate fans, exchanging handshakes with those enthusiastically reaching over the railings, suggesting a heartfelt goodbye to the supporters who have cherished his every play.
He shook hands with the clamoring supporters as they hung over the railings, in what appeared to be a farewell.

Kelce had also savored the moment before the game when he paused midway through his pregame introduction, rushing part-way onto the field before stopping and looking out on to the field that has been the stage for his glittering career.
‘You only get a few of those where you just get to stand there and appreciate 60- to 70,000 Chiefs fans screaming for you,’ he said of the moment in his postgame press conference. ‘I always embrace that moment man, it’s fun and hopefully I got everybody fired up for it.’
Kelce’s A-List fiancee Swift was in attendance at the holiday showdown with the pop star, who attended with her parents Scott and Andrea, caught looking downcast as the Chiefs ultimately slumped to the loss.
Kelce’s mother Donna also watched on with a stony-faced expression as the dying seconds ticked down on the Amazon Prime broadcast.
Bo Nix ran for a score before throwing a go-ahead touchdown pass to R.J. Harvey with 1:45 left in the game, and the Denver Broncos held on in the closing seconds.
Nix finished with 182 yards passing as the Broncos (13-3) bounced back from last week’s disheartening loss to Jacksonville and took another big step toward the AFC West title and perhaps the No. 1 seed and first-round playoff bye.
The Broncos can clinch the division on Saturday if the Chargers lose their game against Houston.
Third-string quarterback Chris Oladokun and Kelce gave Kansas City a chance, driving quickly down field after the Broncos had taken the lead.

But a third-down pass at the Denver 26 was just out of Kelce’s reach, and Oladokun overthrew Marquise Brown in the end zone on fourth down in the final seconds.
Oladokun wound up with 66 yards passing with Kelce having five catches for 36 of those yards.
The loss marked Kansas City’s final regular season game of the 2025 campaign at Arrowhead Stadium and, should Kelce ultimately decide to hang his cleats up, the last of his career.
Ahead of the Christmas Day game, Kelce sat down with fellow Chiefs legend Tony Gonzalez as he finally addressed the elephant in the room in an emotionally-charged interview.
‘I think I’m still searching for those answers,’ Kelce said when pressed on his looming decision. ‘Obviously the way this one ended with a sour taste in my mouth. I feel motivated but I’ve got to make the right decision for myself.’
However, the three-time Super Bowl winner didn’t fully close the door on the possibility of returning for one more season.

‘Just the fact that when I know it’s over, it’s over,’ he added when Gonzalez questioned what he would be returning for.
‘I still have a lot of love for this game. If I came back it would be just to answer that flame in my heart for this thing.’
Kelce continued: ‘If it was just Sundays, I think I could play until I’m 50 but obviously there is so much that goes into it.’
Though the Christmas fixture against the Broncos could be his final at Arrowhead, he will still be set for a final outing against the Raiders, in Las Vegas, on January 4.
