He was struck by a wheel of misfortune.
A bizarre video captures the moment a pedestrian was sent flying after a runaway tire broke loose from a vehicle and slammed into him, knocking him to the ground.
Surveillance footage recorded in Santiago, Chile, shows the wheel bouncing down the road before hitting the 19-year-old student.
The large tire came off a passing truck as it traveled through an underpass, striking at least one other vehicle before crashing into the unsuspecting victim. He remained dazed on the ground as passersby hurried to help, Chilean news outlet Mega Noticias reported.
“There was a loud noise, like when one piece of metal hits another,” an eyewitness told the outlet, recalling the unusual incident, which occurred Oct. 29.

The young man “had some difficulty moving his arm and a little blood on his head,” the witness said.
Another witness said the victim appeared disoriented after the impact. “It was like when you have these dizzy spells. He couldn’t stand up.”
The victim, whose identity has not been released, suffered multiple contusions but “is out of serious condition,” local Mayor Jaime Bellolio told reporters.
Bellolio also said authorities had identified the vehicle involved in the accident.
