Chris Evans has played the hero on screen for years, but even Captain America could not shield his Hollywood Hills home from a steep price reduction.
The Marvel star has sold his upscale Los Angeles retreat for $5.38 million after the property spent more than a year moving on and off the market, ultimately closing at more than $1 million below its already lowered asking price.
Measured against the $6.99 million figure Evans initially sought, the final sale amounts to a substantial $1.61 million drop.
The transaction effectively closes the actor’s long-running California era as he looks to spend more time on the East Coast with his wife, Alba Baptista, and their daughter, Alma.
Still, the sale is far from a financial misstep. Evans purchased the Hollywood Hills property for about $3.52 million in 2013, leaving him with a significant gain despite the discount.
The 45-year-old actor first listed the home in May 2025 with a $6.99 million asking price, but after failing to secure a buyer, he withdrew it from the market in November.
It resurfaced in June with a $600,000 reduction, bringing the price down to $6.39 million, and was relaunched with new photos highlighting the home’s polished interiors and private grounds.
In the end, the $5.38 million closing price shows Evans agreed to a further $1.01 million cut from that revised ask.

Evans, who was born and raised in Sudbury, Massachusetts, had previously explained that his decision to sell was less about falling out of love with Los Angeles and more about wanting to spend time closer to home.
‘The West Coast is beautiful, and I’ve spent more than a decade in this home enjoying Los Angeles,’ he told Realtor.com.
‘But I’ve decided to spend more time on the East Coast. It feels like the right moment to pass this beautiful property to the next owner.’
The move will see Evans spend more time on the East Coast with his wife, Portuguese actress Alba Baptista, and their daughter, Alma.
His former California home certainly offered plenty to keep a Hollywood star happy.
The 1940s-era property sits behind gates on a secluded cul-de-sac in the Hollywood Hills, offering sweeping views over the Los Angeles skyline.
Listing agent Scott Moore of Christie’s International Real Estate Southern California described the location as one of the area’s most exclusive pockets, where residents can enjoy privacy and quiet while remaining just minutes from the heart of Los Angeles.
The property is also surrounded by historically significant architecture, including a neighboring residence designed by celebrated modernist architect Richard Neutra.
But it was the views that Evans himself loved most.

There is also a resort-style swimming pool and spa, plus a separate seating area with its own water feature.
Inside, the home combines contemporary finishes with warmer architectural details, including vaulted open-beam ceilings, vast picture windows and a dramatic fireplace anchoring the main living space.

The decision to leave California also puts Evans among a growing number of Hollywood stars reassessing life in Los Angeles.
Dennis Quaid, Mark Wahlberg, Matthew McConaughey, Glenn Powell and Rachel McAdams are among those who have moved away from the Golden State or established bases elsewhere.
For Evans, however, the move appears to be something of a return to his roots.
After more than a decade in the Hollywood Hills, the Massachusetts native is closing the door on his Los Angeles home – even if it took a $1 million-plus price cut to finally do it.
