Ever wondered what it would be like to work as a crime scene investigator—examining evidence, piecing together clues and pursuing answers in a real unsolved cold case?
Perhaps you’d rather go inside some of America’s most notorious true crime investigations, hearing directly from celebrated experts in forensics, interrogation and law enforcement about the cases that have stayed with them for decades.
You’ll also have the chance to meet the bestselling authors whose mystery and thriller novels bring fictional worlds of suspense, deception and intrigue to life.
That experience is coming to Savannah this fall, as Hamptons Whodunit, the acclaimed mystery and true crime festival, takes its show on the road for the first time.
Savannah is a fitting destination. The historic Georgia city is renowned for its Southern charm—and for the ghost stories, scandals, murders and dark legends woven through its past.
Running from November 6 to 8, the special weekend will bring leading true crime figures and bestselling mystery and thriller writers together for panel discussions, expert talks, hands-on workshops, book signings and historic tours.
After the success of our spring collaboration at this year’s Hamptons Whodunit, Our News Outlet is pleased to return as an official media partner for the three-day festival.
The Crime Desk team, led by US Crime Desk Editor Rachel Sharp and senior reporter Steve Helling, will host a panel examining our coverage of some of the year’s biggest crime stories. Topics will include reporting from Lindsay Clancy’s trial and exclusive revelations involving family annihilator Chris Watts.

Georgia defense attorney McCracken Poston Jr. will discuss his work on the mysterious death of Virginia Ridley. Retired FBI agent Scott Duffey, meanwhile, will explain how the bureau has secured confessions from notorious criminals.
Guests can join crime scene investigator Sheryl McCollum for one of her signature Wine & Crime evenings. Forensic artist Joe Mullins will also demonstrate how he reconstructs faces—and helps identify John and Jane Does—using nothing more than a human skull.
Because Hamptons Whodunit is designed as an intimate, boutique festival, attendees will have plenty of opportunities to meet the experts and authors during three days of happy hours, workshops, trivia and themed dinners.
The Alida Savannah, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, will serve as the festival’s main host, while select events will be held at Hotel Orielle, an Autograph Collection Hotel. Both properties are participating in partnership with Marriott Hotels and will add a dose of signature Southern hospitality.
Historic Savannah will be part of the experience, too, with tours exploring the city’s ghosts, legends and real crimes—and the mysteries that continue to surround them.
