Demi Moore claims Tom Cruise was 'embarrassed' about her pregnancy

Arriving at the initial script reading for “A Few Good Men” in 1991 while nearly eight months pregnant, Demi Moore noticed that her co-star, Tom Cruise, appeared somewhat uneasy.

Reflecting on the moment at the New Yorker Festival, the 62-year-old actress shared that Cruise seemed noticeably embarrassed, as reported by People.

Despite the apparent discomfort, Moore felt quite at ease during the reading, even as she moved around. She could sense, however, that the situation felt a bit awkward for Cruise.

In October 1991, Demi and the 63-year-old “Mission: Impossible” actor commenced filming their roles as JAG officers in Rob Reiner’s courtroom drama, just three months after Moore and her then-husband Bruce Willis welcomed their second child, Scout.

Moore, who reportedly earned $2 million for the role, confessed she was eager to don her military attire and had begun exercising to regain her shape even before giving birth.

Describing her active lifestyle, Moore recalled engaging in a two-and-a-half-hour hike on the day her water broke, followed by a 24-mile bike ride and an evening of dancing at a reggae club, which perhaps contributed to Scout’s early arrival by two and a half weeks.

The Golden Globe winner now marvels at her ability to juggle ‘breastfeeding’ with ‘blocking and rehearsing a scene’ as Lieutenant Commander Joanne Galloway on the set of A Few Good Men.

‘It’s one of the many things, for me, that I just felt didn’t make sense. And so I challenged that to say, you know, “Why not? Why can’t you have both?”‘ Demi reflected onstage Webster Hall in Manhattan.

‘But with that, I think, came a lot of pressure I put on myself to, in a sense, prove that it was possible.’

The critically-acclaimed courtroom thriller, based on Aaron Sorkin’s 1989 Broadway play, earned four Oscar nominations and amassed $243.2M at the global box office from a $40M budget.

The ensemble cast also included Jack Nicholson, Kevin Bacon, Kevin Pollak, J. T. Walsh, Cuba Gooding Jr., and Kiefer Sutherland.

Moore (born Guynes) welcomed three daughters – Rumer, 37; Scout, 34; and Tallulah, 31 – during her 11-year marriage to the retired 70-year-old movie star, which amicably ended in 2000.

Tom (born Thomas Mapother IV) didn’t welcome children of his own until he and second wife Nicole Kidman adopted their 32-year-old daughter Bella in December 1992 after suffering a traumatizing miscarriage.
