BOLO: Search Continues for Arizona Teen Girl Who Never Came Home from School

Authorities in Arizona are requesting public assistance in locating a 16-year-old girl who vanished after leaving her high school in Maricopa County.

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) reports that Laila Champagne Garcia was last observed on January 26 at Red Mountain High School, situated in Mesa. Concerns arose when she did not return home, prompting her to be declared missing the next day.

“At this time, the details of what Laila was wearing when she disappeared and her intended destination are unknown,” stated the MCSO.

Laila is described as being 5 feet, 1 inch tall, with a weight of approximately 100 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes, according to information from the MCSO.

“Mesa Public Schools is aware of the case involving a student reported missing after leaving the school grounds. Ensuring the safety and well-being of our students is our utmost priority,” a spokesperson for the school shared with People magazine.

“We are fully cooperating with local authorities as they conduct the investigation. Due to laws protecting student privacy and the ongoing investigation, the district cannot disclose further information at this time.”
