In a heartwarming moment reported by CBS, DoorDash delivery driver Sharon Simmons found herself at the White House, delivering a McDonald’s order to former President Trump. This unexpected encounter quickly turned into an opportunity for Simmons to share her thoughts on tax policies affecting workers like her.
Simmons, a grandmother making her debut delivery to the White House, expressed gratitude for the “no tax on tips” policy. With her husband battling cancer, the financial relief from this policy has been significant for her family.
Thanks to this initiative, which allows workers to retain a greater portion of their tips, Simmons shared that she earned an additional $11,000, a substantial boost to her income.
Trump highlighted the policy, calling it “very special.” Simmons nodded in agreement, acknowledging its positive impact on her life.
However, when Trump playfully inquired about her voting preferences, asking, “And I think you voted for me, do you think?” Simmons hesitantly responded with a simple, “Um, maybe.”
“Um, maybe,” Simmons replied.
“I heard you’re a great supporter, we appreciate it,” Trump said.
When Trump began taking questions from reporters, one asked SImmons whether the White House tipped well.
Um,” she smiled, “potentially.”
“Great,” Trump replied, handing her US$100 ($140) cash.
“Yes, very,” Simmons said.
