Roy Keane has admitted that he fell out with former Man United team-mates Ryan Giggs and Gary Pallister during their time at the club.

Aside from winning a plethora of trophies at Old Trafford, Keane developed a reputation for his no-nonsense approach – typically towards opponents – during his 13-year stay in Manchester.

However, it’s now become apparent that the former Red Devil also had run-ins with his own team-mates – which lasted ‘for about 12 months’.

‘Palli’s a good guy – I fell out with ‘Giggsy’ [Ryan Giggs], he wouldn’t do a function one time at the club – I was fuming with him. Me and ‘Giggsy’ didn’t speak for five or six months!’

Keane detailed feuds with both Ryan Giggs (L) and Gary Pallister (R) during his stay at United

Elaborating on the feud with Giggs, Keane continued: ‘You know [as a player] when you have to do something for your club – nobody wants to do anything at the club.

‘I was like, ‘Giggs you have to do what [the club] wants, we’ve all done it and it’s just your turn next’.

‘Giggs was obviously good with stuff like that [doing functions] – it was just that day which I don’t mind, he went, ‘I’m not doing it’, and I was just irritated by him – simple as that and we dragged it on for a few months.’

Keane and Giggs shared a dressing room for 13 years at Old Trafford, where they won seven Premier League titles together, despite their occasional feuds.

Former team-mate Gary Neville, who also co-hosts the Stick to Football podcast, also reflected on Keane and Giggs’ arguing and recounted a particular incident where they went back-and-forth for ‘ten minutes’.

Neville explained: ‘I walked in at 8am into the dressing room, I’m in there first, and then ‘Giggsy’ [Ryan Giggs] comes in and sits there – there were only three of us in the dressing room – me, Roy [Keane] and Giggsy. They started arguing!

‘I remember Roy saying you’ve done stuff for your testimonial or something like that and this [arguing] went on for about five minutes.

‘I thought, ‘I’m getting f*****g out of here!’ There’s nothing I can do so I walked out, I came back in ten minutes later and they were still going!’

Elsewhere on the podcast, fellow co-host Jamie Carragher argued that Marcus Rashford was never ‘the saint he was made out’ to be in the wake of his ’12-hour tequila bender’ in Belfast last week.

The England international called in sick on Friday and was subsequently fined £650,000 – two weeks wages – when details of his boozy antics emerged.

‘I don’t ever believe he was this saint that he was made out to be, and this inner circle, I think they have done a great job with Marcus – there was a lot of PR around him,’ he said speaking on the Stick to Football podcast, sponsored by Sky Bet.

‘It put him as if he was this guy that was almost going to save the world, when he’s just a young lad from Manchester, with a few quid and is a brilliant footballer.’
