President Trump recently pondered the stabbing incident and arrest of Mark Sanchez, describing him as a “nice guy” and suggesting that “something a little crazy” must have occurred between the former Jets quarterback and the truck driver he allegedly assaulted.

I don’t know what happened,” Trump said during a Monday appearance on “Greg Kelly Reports.”

“Something bad happened. Something a little crazy happened,” he continued. “I can only report that he was a nice guy. I know him a little bit.”

Sanchez is currently facing serious legal troubles, including a felony charge for battery resulting in significant bodily harm, along with three misdemeanors. These charges stem from a Saturday night confrontation in Indianapolis, where Sanchez was present to work as an analyst for Fox Sports during the Sunday NFL game between the Indianapolis Colts and the Las Vegas Raiders.

The police affidavit describes Sanchez as intoxicated when he approached Perry Tole near the Westin Hotel’s loading docks shortly after midnight. Tole, an employee for a company that handles commercial frying oil, has since filed a lawsuit against Sanchez and other parties involved.

Tole, aged 69, claimed that Sanchez tried multiple times to climb into his truck and shoved him as he attempted to retrieve his cellphone. Fearing for his safety, Tole said he used pepper spray on Sanchez, which had a temporary effect, before grabbing a knife for protection.

Sanchez was treated at a hospital for stab wounds near his upper right torso, as stated in the affidavit. Although Sanchez has remained silent publicly, his family released a statement on Monday acknowledging the incident’s severity.

“This has been an extremely challenging time for everyone involved. Mark and our family deeply appreciate the concern, love, and support expressed in recent days,” his brother, Nick, conveyed in a statement to TMZ Sports.

“Mark remains under medical care for the serious injuries he sustained and is focused on his recovery as the legal process continues,” the family added. “We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the first responders and medical staff.”
