A man armed with an axe fatally assaulted an individual during a violent outburst at a university in Poland.

Another person was critically injured and transported to the hospital following the terrifying incident at Warsaw University.

The police reported the arrest of a 22-year-old Polish suspect in the university’s lecture hall.

He reportedly walked onto the campus brandishing the axe at around 16:40 UK time.

Local media reported that body parts had been recovered alongside the axe.

A spokesperson said that the person who died was a female administrator who worked at the university.

He added that a security guard was injured and rushed to hospital in a critical condition.

Warsaw Police said: “Police have detained a man who entered the University of Warsaw campus.

“One person died, another was taken to hospital with injuries,” in a post on X.
