Free haircuts, vaccines, school supplies: List of back-to-school events in Northeast Florida, Southeast Georgia

It’s time again for children to say goodbye to summer break and hello to another year of school.

To make sure students are prepared to start the school year on the right foot, volunteers, organizations and others have organized back-to-school events. These events will feature free haircuts, backpacks, school supplies, vaccines, food, hygiene bags, physicals and more.

Duval County

July 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. | A free “Health and Wellness Fair” will be hosted by Florida Blue River City and PROTalks on Saturday, July 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will feature activities, school supplies (while supplies last, limit 3 per household), free giveaways, health screenings, community resources and more! July 30 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. | River City Baptist Church is hosting a back-to-school event that offers games, snacks, face painting, a bounce house, school supplies and more from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Click here to learn more. Aug. 6 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. | There will be a free Back-to-School Bash at the St. Johns Town Center on Aug. 6. The event, hosted by Florida Blue, will feature interactive activities, back-to-school giveaways (while supplies last), community resources and more. Click here to RSVP. Cheese | Event will feature free backpacks, bounce houses, gifts and more. “Regreso a La Escuela 2022, Mochilas Completamente Gratis. Casa de Brincos, Tren Para Niños, Payaso, Regalos y Mucho Más. Aug. 13 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. | First Coast Villains alongside Hair Mechanix is hosting its 3rd annual Back-to-School Bash on August 13 at Hair Mechanix Mandarin. The event will feature free haircuts and school supplies for children ages 5 to 18. Hotdogs, hamburgers, chips and drinks will also be available. NOTE: Free haircuts and school supplies will be first come, first served.

Aug. 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. | We are Hype, an organization dedicated to developing the lives of young people in our community, is hosting a back-to-school basketball camp and supply giveaway on Saturday, Aug. 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Legends Center at 5130 Soutel Dr., Jacksonville, FL 32208. The free event will feature free food, free sports physicals, free school supplies, traffic and safety education, heart and stroke education, hands-on CPR training, “stop the bleeding workshops” and more. Aug. 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. | The 2022 Revitalize Arlington Backpack Giveaway event is providing free backpacks and school supplies to students in the local community. Clay County

Aug. 1 – 12 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. | The Department of Health in Clay County will hold its annual Back to School Immunization Drive Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., August 1-12 at the Clay County Fairgrounds. Free vaccinations include measles, mumps, rubella, polio, chickenpox, and hepatitis B. Click here for more information.

Students under 18 must be accompanied by a legal guardian and have all current immunization records and a photo ID.

July 30 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. | Mercy Support Services, alongside Saved 2 Serve & Seeds of Love, is hosting a back-to-school bash on July 30. The event will feature free backpacks with supplies, new clothing, a grocery distribution, bicycles and more! Location: 515 College Dr., Middleburg, FL 32068

Aug. 3 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. | Clay Education Foundation’s free teacher school supply shopping event will be held for all Clay County public school teachers on Aug. 3 in Keystone Heights and Aug. 8 at Garber Auto Mall. Contact [email protected] for more details.

August 13 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. | Highlife Barber Beauty Salon is offering free haircuts on August 13 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Students from Pre-K to Seniors in High School may come and get a haircut. Location: 115 Woodside Dr, Orange Park, FL 32073
