Friend tells court: 'I'll never forget' what Lamarre-Condon said

The murder trial reached its conclusion on Friday, when the court was shown CCTV footage of Beau Lamarre-Condon wearing an Uber Eats delivery uniform on the morning of the alleged killings.

The footage shows Lamarre-Condon walking along Brown Street in Paddington, close to Baird’s share house, on the morning of February 19, 2024.

Wearing a high-vis yellow jumper, blue trousers with reflective strips, boots and a large black motorbike helmet, he appears to linger in the street before entering the property.

Three gunshots can then be heard on a security camera recording from a neighbouring property.

The court had earlier heard that Lamarre-Condon allegedly asked his friend Georgia Cook: “What would you do if I told you I killed someone?” and “Would you help me hide the body?”.

Ms Cook told the court on Friday that she first met Lamarre-Condon at a boat party in 2021. They remained in contact through phone calls, coffee meetings, dinners and social media.

She said Lamarre-Condon began speaking to her about Jesse Baird in 2022, telling her he had met someone who made him “really happy”.

In December that year, while describing a farmstay he and Baird had taken, he allegedly told her: “I did do one crazy thing.”

“He looked at Jesse’s phone and saw messages from another man who was a potential interest,” she told the court.

Ms Cook said Lamarre-Condon was “infuriated” and worried that Baird was seeing other people.

The court heard that the pair met for Thai food in Kirribilli on May 29, 2023. As soon as he sat down, Lamarre-Condon allegedly asked: “What would you do if I told you I’d killed someone?”

“I froze. He said, ‘Would you help me hide the body?’. I said, ‘No, because I don’t want their ghost to haunt me’,” Ms Cook told the court.

He allegedly responded: “Don’t worry I didn’t do that, but I did something else crazy.”

Ms Cook alleged that Lamarre-Condon then told her he had been watching Baird from his house.

He allegedly said he had watched Baird have sex with other men and had seen Baird and his friends taking Polaroid photographs in the backyard.

Ms Cook said Lamarre-Condon was angry because he had bought the Polaroid camera for Baird.

“He watched where Jesse left his key,” she told the court.

“Once they left in an Uber, he got the key, unlocked the door, stole the camera, ate Jesse’s Easter egg, and he wouldn’t tell me what else he did.”

Lamarre-Condon allegedly told Ms Cook that he monitored Baird’s home from his mother’s car to avoid detection and wore a black beanie as part of the disguise.

Ms Cook is due to finish giving evidence on Monday morning.
