Five men were hurt Monday after scaffolding and display screens came crashing down at George Lucas’ Skywalker Ranch in Northern California, with one victim reported to be seriously injured.
The accident unfolded Monday morning as crews were preparing for an event at Summit Skywalker Ranch in Nicasio, a community in Marin County, according to NBC Bay Area.
One of the injured workers sustained a head injury and was transported to a hospital in what was described as “very serious condition,” the station reported.
Another man was pinned beneath LCD screens at the scene, prompting first responders to deploy airbags to raise the fallen structure. In all, three of the men were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Emergency teams from the Marin County Fire Department, San Rafael Fire Department and Novato Fire Department responded to the Skywalker Ranch incident.
Authorities are still working to determine what caused the scaffolding and screens to collapse.
Located north of San Francisco, the expansive Skywalker Ranch property is described on its website as the rural home of Lucasfilm’s renowned audio post-production, sound design and mixing facility, Skywalker Sound.
According to the ranch, Skywalker Sound is housed inside a 153,000-square-foot Technical Building that includes a world-class scoring stage, six feature mix stages, 15 sound design suites, 50 editing suites, an ADR stage, two Foley stages and the 300-seat Stag Theater. The grounds also feature the well-known Main House and Lake Ewok.
The ranch did not respond to a request for comment from the California Post.
