A gunman fired a round into a counter in a gas station store during a robbery in Keary Mesa early Wednesday, police said.

The robbery happened about 3:05 a.m. after the gunman walked into an Acro gas station’s ampm store on Clairemont Boulevard near Kearny Villa Road, where he confronted an employee and demanded money from the register. When the employee hesitated, the gunman fired a round into the counter, police said.

The clerk then complied, and the man made off with an undisclosed amount of money.

No one was hurt, police said.


The robber was described as a light-skinned man in his late 20s to early 30s, 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighing about 280 pounds. He was wearing dark clothing and a black mask, police said.
