A New York prostitute who pleaded guilty to drugging numerous men and killing them has been sentenced to 30 years in prison.

Angelina Barini, 43, shed tears at a Brooklyn federal court Tuesday and confessed to giving fentanyl and “date rape” drug GBL to three unnamed men, as well as renowned chef, Andrea Zamperoni, 33. The prosecution said that Barini had hoped to knock the men out so she could rob them, but they ended up dying.

US District Judge Brian Cogan acknowledged that Barini had a rough childhood and adulthood filled with drug addiction, but said the level of severity of the crimes she committed “calls out for punishment”

“There is no level of disadvantage of being raised that can mitigate what you did here … drug addiction or no drug addiction, something has to kick in,” Cogan said, the New York Post reports.

The incidents happened during the summer of 2019, according to the prosecution. In the Zamperoni case, the chef died at the Kamway Lodge in Elmhurst after the defendant “conspired to spike his drink “with the date-rape drug GBL. Zamperoni passed away on the hotel room floor.

Barini’s older sister reportedly said the sentencing was too harsh for the crimes and an appeal will be in the works.

“This is a federal case yet the government can sit there when they are letting hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens come across the border with fentanyl every day,” she told the Post. “Hundreds of thousands of people are dying from this … and they sit there and act like they have no part of this.”

“They weren’t saints. They went with her. They wanted to party and they wanted to do drugs with her and have sex. It wasn’t like she put a gun to somebody’s head and forced them to go with her.”

Prosecutor Breon Peace approved of the 30-year sentence and said it should serve as a warning to others who use drugs to commit crimes against others.

“The defendant drugged and killed multiple people for a few quick dollars. She stole their personal belongings while they lay unconscious dying from the lethal drugs she gave them.”
