Galatasaray have been caught up in an unfortunate racism storm on social media on Sunday evening..

The Turkish club posted a picture on their official Instagram page of forward Dries Mertens, who was seen wearing a hat and a snood.

The caption of the post read: ‘Tahmin et, ben kimim’ and was accompanied by a ninja emoji. When translated to English the post is supposed to read: ‘Guess who I am’.

Galatasaray are currently in second place in the Turkish Super Lig and are behind leaders Fenerbahce only on goal difference.

They are back in league action next Saturday with a home game against Alanyaspor before hosting Manchester United in the Champions League three days later.

Mertens joined Galatasaray in 2022 and has scored nine goals in 52 appearances for the club.

The Galatasaray squad includes former Crystal Palace and Manchester United player Wilfried Zaha as well as ex-Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira.

They can also call upon former Tottenham defender Davinson Sanchez and fellow north London loanee Tanguy Ndombele.
