Tiger Woods, facing personal challenges, shares an unexpectedly strong bond with Kai Trump, the eldest grandchild of former President Donald Trump, recent revelations suggest.

Currently, Woods is reportedly in Switzerland, seeking professional aid following his arrest in late March for a DUI incident in Jupiter Island. Woods, who has pled not guilty, was involved in a car rollover during the event.

Despite passing a breathalyzer test, Woods refused a urine test but admitted to police that he had taken “a few pills.” Authorities discovered two white tablets on him, later identified as the opioid hydrocodone.

Woods has been dating Vanessa Trump, ex-wife of Donald Trump Jr. and Kai’s mother, for about 18 months. Kai, 18, an enthusiastic golfer committed to the University of Miami’s golf team, attended the Masters this week.

There have been rumors about potential strains between Vanessa and Tiger due to his recent legal troubles. However, a source informed People that this speculation is unfounded.

“She’s not leaving him. They’re very close as a family,” the source revealed, adding that Woods has become deeply integrated into their lives, especially forming a close connection with Kai.

Kai, meanwhile, was at the center of controversy earlier this week when she shared an array of pictures from being at Augusta on Wednesday, including where she appeared to be taking selfies around the course.

Masters organizers have notoriously strict rules about phones being banned from the fairways but minor exemptions are made on rare occasions, especially during the practice days. 

Things could have been so different for Woods this week. There had been growing speculation he was going to return to golf for the first time since the summer of 2024 at the Masters, before his latest car crash.

Days before, Kai and Vanessa were at his TGL (The Golf League) comeback in Florida, the indoor golf event he helped establish alongside Rory McIlroy where Woods played golf for the first time in almost two years.

In February 2025, days after Woods’ mom Kutilda had died and before Daily Mail broke the world exclusive of his relationship with Vanessa, Woods arrived to watch the final day of the Genesis Invitational alongside teenager Kai, with Vanessa close behind.

In 2025 alone, Woods had surgery on a torn Achilles and a seventh back procedure. 

His former caddie during his all-conquering years, Joe LaCava, is on the bag for Patrick Cantlay at Augusta this week and also spoke out about his former employer’s struggles.

‘He’s got to help himself, which is what I’m hoping he’ll do,’ LaCava said. ‘But I have not made any contact with him. I’m leaving him alone and letting him figure it out for himself.

‘He’s got enough people probably texting him and hounding him, right? I don’t need to bother him. I care greatly about him. I’m not p***ed at him. 

‘He knows that. He knows that I care deeply about him. He’s got enough stuff going on, so I’m sure we’ll communicate once he’s back home. 

‘I’m assuming he doesn’t have access to his phone anyway.’
