Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Thursday that he last met with Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei roughly a month to six weeks ago, insisting the senior cleric was “completely” healthy at the time.

Asked by Bret Baier, host of Fox News’ “Special Report,” when he had last seen Khamenei in person, Pezeshkian replied: “I don’t remember the dates. About a month. A month-and-half ago.”
The president said the meeting lasted approximately seven hours and included extensive discussions. “We met for about seven hours,” Pezeshkian said. “We conducted talks.”

Khamenei, 56, is believed to have sustained severe injuries during the Feb. 28 airstrikes that killed his father at the outset of the U.S. war with Iran.
Since taking over as supreme leader, he has not appeared publicly or been shown in a video.

Baier pressed Pezeshkian on whether Khamenei remained healthy enough to lead the country. The Iranian president responded unequivocally that he did.
“Very much so, completely,” Pezeshkian said, adding that his government continues to receive “directions” from Khamenei.
Pezeshkian attributed Khamenei’s prolonged absence to what he called “the lack of security that was created by the action of foreigners … the action of aggressors” since the war began.
