Jennifer Lopez is bracing herself for the emotional transition of sending her children off to college, a topic she candidly discussed on a recent episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live. The 56-year-old singer and actress opened up about the bittersweet milestone as her 18-year-old twins, Max and Emme, prepare to leave the nest.
During the interview, Kimmel touched on the impending graduation of her kids and their upcoming departure from her $18 million home. Overwhelmed with emotion, Lopez pleaded, “Don’t talk about it, I’ll start crying,” as she visibly held back tears.
Lopez shared that she has already spent the past two months shedding tears and anticipates becoming emotional once more at their graduation ceremony. The dual high school graduates will soon embark on separate college journeys, each attending different institutions, a change that Lopez finds both proud and poignant.
Despite her celebrity status, Lopez intends to personally assist Max and Emme in settling into their dorm rooms, even if it means attracting some attention in the process. Unlike many new college students who might scramble for last-minute essentials, the twins are well-prepared. Lopez assured Kimmel that they have everything they need and will merely transport their belongings from home to their new college accommodations.
The proud mom told Kimmel that Max and Emme – who went to different high schools – will also be going to separate colleges, and that she plans to help them move into their dorm rooms even if it might make a commotion due to her superstar status.
Though many freshmen make last-minute Target runs for dorm essentials, Lopez assured Kimmel the twins already have everything they need and will simply be packing up their rooms and moving in.

The conversation kicked off after Lopez entered to enthusiastic applause from the audience, prompting Kimmel to quip, ‘You probably get that when you come home, your family stands up and applauds, right?’
‘Listen, if my kids come to the door, I feel so lucky,’ Lopez replied.
She then told him that one of the twins will be graduating on Thursday.
‘They go to different schools. That’s inconvenient, isn’t it?’ Kimmel questioned.
‘I mean, it’s fine,’ she said, adding, ‘I want them to be happy. Go where they want to go, do what they want to do.’
‘There’s a commotion everywhere you go. Will you be able to move them into their dorm?’ Kimmel asked.
‘Absolutely,’ she said. ‘I do all the things, yeah.’
‘You will go to Target with them and buy them sheets?’ the host asked.
‘We have sheets,’ she replied, before sharing that she hopes the twins will miss her and come home soon.
Lopez added that she’s been ‘crying for two months’ and will shed tears again at their graduation ceremony

‘We’re going to pack up their rooms here, and they’re going to take all the things that they want to take to their dorm. Then they’re going to realize that their dorms are too small. They’re going to miss home. I hope they want to come back real soon.’
However, she later admitted that she remembers the feeling of wanting to move away from home and gain independence.
‘I remember being that age and thinking, I couldn’t wait to get out in the world and do my thing. I really wanted to get out.’
She also shared that she felt fine about them leaving for college until it suddenly hit her two months ago.
‘All year people asked me, “They’re going away to college, it’s going to be terrible.” No, it’s going to be great. I want them to go out there. I want them to do what they want to do. They have big dreams. They have things they want to do. It’s going to be great.’
‘And then like two months ago I had to write the thing for the yearbook or whatever the heck thing they make you write.’
‘When I tell you, the tears. Two days it took me to write those things,’ she said.
‘Do you write two different things, or since they’re twins you put the same thing?’ Kimmel joked.
‘No, they’re two different people!’ Lopez replied.

After her kids move out Lopez will be enjoying the brand new $18 million bachelorette pad she bought in Hidden Hills, California last year following her divorce from Ben Affleck.
‘Jennifer is living inside her new property and is thrilled about it because it is like her very own Barbie dreamhouse,’ a source recently told the Daily Mail.
‘It is girly and fun with pink and white colors, very feminine and yummy. She is over the moon about it and really living out her “happy phase” with no one to tell her what to do or how to behave. She is free.’
