In a recent episode of his podcast, Joe Rogan took aim at Donald Trump’s staggering $1.8 billion settlement with the IRS, labeling it as “crazy.” Despite having endorsed Trump for the 2024 election, Rogan has not shied away from critiquing the former president, particularly on contentious issues such as the ongoing conflict with Iran.
During a conversation with comedian Tom Segura, Rogan expressed his disbelief over the settlement, especially the unusual agreement that grants Trump and his sons immunity from future IRS tax audits. This arrangement stemmed from a 2018 incident involving the leak of Trump’s tax returns. As Segura pointed out, the Department of Justice is now permanently restricted from pursuing similar legal action against Trump, his organization, or his sons.
Rogan was incredulous, comparing the situation to a hypothetical scenario where someone wrongly accused of murder could prevent any future prosecution for the same crime. “It’s like saying, ‘You can never prosecute me for murder again,'” Rogan remarked, highlighting the perceived absurdity of the deal.
In a broader critique, Rogan drew parallels to historical figures, likening the situation to Uday Hussein, son of Saddam Hussein, who faced accusations of severe crimes. Through this comparison, Rogan underscored his view on the severity and implications of the settlement.
‘That is so crazy,’ Rogan said. ‘Imagine like somebody accused you of murder, yeah, and turns out you weren’t guilty of that murder and then you sue them and you go, “You can never prosecute me for murder again.”‘
Rogan then compared it to Uday Hussein, the son of former Iraqi leader Saddam who was accused of serial rape and murder of young women and underage girls.
The comic kept repeating that the deal was ‘crazy’ throughout the program.
The White House referred The Daily Mail to The Trump Organization in response to a request for comment.
