SAN DIEGO —
A juvenile suspected in an armed robbery in Santee was arrested while a second suspect escaped Sunday after a pursuit ended in a crash on Interstate 805 in San Diego.
The robbery was reported about 10 a.m. Sunday at a gas station on Mast Boulevard near Park Center Drive, west of Santana High School in Santee, sheriff’s Lt. David Collins said.
The suspects took off in a green Ford Mustang.
California Highway Patrol officers spotted the car and tried to pull it over, but the driver didn’t stop. Officers gave chase until the driver crashed — it was unclear into what — on southbound Interstate 805 near Market Street.
One suspect, a juvenile whose age was unavailable, was detained. The second suspect ran away. San Diego police officers helped search backyards in the area after getting reports that the fleeing suspect was jumping fences, but the second suspect wasn’t located, police said.
Collins said a gun was recovered at the crash site.
No further information was immediately available.
