Moss, 48, who dated Depp from 1994 until 1997, is set to appear at the actor’s defamation trial against his ex-wife Amber Heard on Wednesday.
The famously-private model, who rarely discusses her personal life, will be testifying publicly in support of Depp.
A source familiar with the case told the New York Post Moss will talk about an incident when she ‘was walking down some stairs in Jamaica’.
‘She was wearing flip flips and she slipped on the last two stairs. Johnny caught her and tended to her.’
Heard had brought up the model in her testimony earlier this month, saying she felt connected to Moss due to a rumor Depp pushed her down the stairs when they were dating back in the 1990s.
But by mentioning the alleged misconduct, Heard inadvertently allowed Depp’s lawyers to call her as a witness to discuss the rumor, which sources say is not true.
In fact, after Heard brought up the allegation, Depp’s legal team could be seen fist bumping and celebrating.

After Amber Heard namedropped the super model on Thursday, Depp’s legal team could be seen celebrating
It comes as Heard’s legal team announced yesterday that they changed their minds and will not call Depp back to the witness stand because it would be as ‘relevant to us as a bicycle to a fish’.
‘Everything Depp has testified up to this point has been irrelevant to the heart of this case, and there’s no reason to believe it would be any different now,’ Heard’s attorney said.
Heard first made the reference to Moss on May 5, when she told the jury about a March 2015 fight in which she punched Depp in the face over fears he was going to push her sister, Whitney, down the stairs.
‘[Whitney’s] back was to the staircase, and Johnny swings at her,’ Heard said. ‘I don’t hesitate, I don’t wait – I just, in my head, instantly think of Kate Moss and stairs.
‘And I swung at him.’
Heard, 36, had previously brought up the rumor during Depp’s 2022 UK trial against The Sun – which had branded him a ‘wife beater.’
As she described the same fight, Heard said at the time: ‘I remembered information that I had heard [that] he pushed a former girlfriend- I believe it was Kate Moss – down the stairs.
‘I had heard this rumor from two people and it was fresh in my mind.’
Depp wound up losing that case after the UK high court substantiated the majority of Heard’s allegations of abuse.
But by namedropping Moss in the federal court in Fairfax, Virginia, his attorneys can now call her as a witness and deny that the incident ever happened.
Heard becomes emotional as she testifies in the courtroom at the Fairfax County Circuit Courthouse in Fairfax Virginia on May 16

A source close to the case told the Post that Moss’s testimony about falling on some stairs will not help Heard.
‘Johnny picked up Kate and carried her – this was hardly Amber’s scary interpretation of events,’ the source said, adding that Depp’s legal team have been speaking to Moss in the last week.
‘Kate has nothing to gain in giving testimony, but she feels strongly about defending her friend,’ the source added.
The defamation trial revolves around a 2018 Washington Post op-ed written by Heard where she referred to herself as a ‘public figure representing domestic abuse’. Depp is suing his ex-wife for $50 million, alleging defamation in the op-ed whilst Heard has countersued for defamation for $100 million from the actor.
The couple married in a private civil ceremony at their LA home in February 2015 but after just 15 months of marriage, Heard filed for divorce in May 2016, citing irreconcilable differences. Four days later a judge issued a temporary restraining order against Depp over domestic violence allegations.
Moss and Depp dated for four years before they broke up in 1997 – but were still seen together in public at the Cannes Film Festival in May 1998.
Their relationship was rocky at times, People reports, with people claiming they were seen out in public yelling at each other.

And on September 13, 1994, Depp was arrested for criminal mischief at New York City’s Mark Hotel for allegedly trashing his hotel room.
When police arrived at around 5.30am that day, they found Depp ‘in a state of possible intoxication’ and Moss uninjured.
A criminal-court judge later dismissed the charges against the Pirates of the Caribbean star on the condition that he stay out of trouble for six months, and Depp paid the hotel close to $10,000 – including more than $2,000 for damages plus the bill for the remainder of his reservation.
Still, in a 2012 interview with Vanity Fair, Moss said she spent ‘years’ crying about Depp after their relationship ended.
‘There’s nobody that’s ever been able to take care of me. Johnny did for a bit. I believed what he said,’ she told the magazine. ‘Like if I said ‘What do I do?,’ he’d tell me. And that’s what I missed when I left.
‘I really lost that gauge of somebody I could trust,’ she continued, calling it a ‘nightmare.’
DailyMail.com have contacted Moss’s representatives for a comment.
From a surprise set-up to a high-profile heartbreak (and ALL the drama in between): Inside Johnny Depp and Kate Moss’ glamorous and VERY tumultuous romance – as supermodel is set to testify in support of her ex in his $100M trial against Amber Heard
By Lillian Gissen for DailyMail.com
Johnny Depp’s ex-girlfriend Kate Moss is gearing up to take the stand to testify in his $100 million defamation trial against Amber Heard, after the Aquaman actress namedropped the supermodel during her testimony earlier this month.
The famously-private model – who rarely discusses her personal life and has previously said that she ‘hates’ doing interviews – will be testifying publicly in support of her former beau, and is expected to shut down Heard’s claim that Depp once pushed Moss down the stairs.
Moss’ testimony could possibly throw a wrench in Heard’s case since it will give Depp’s team a chance to quell rumors about their relationship – an opportunity which only arose after Heard herself brought Moss up in court.
While Moss, now 48, has always spoken highly of Depp, now 58, and is understood to be ready to lend a helping hand in his case, their high-profile three-year relationship in the nineties was far from smooth sailing.
As two of the biggest names in Hollywood, the stars’ high-profile romance, which began in 1994 and lasted for three years, was widely covered by the media – and the pair quickly became one of the most talked about couples of the ’90s before they ultimately split in 1997.
And although Depp and Moss were often spotted packing on the PDA on romantic trips around the globe and often attended glamorous events side by side, their relationship also had a darker side to it that embroiled the pair in scandal and controversy, and led them to be featured in many a headline.

Despite the tiffs, Moss and Depp stayed together for three years. They ultimately split in 1997, after Depp said he struggled to balance his busy work schedule with his relationship, and Moss later admitted that the breakup left her devastated for ‘years.’
Depp and Heard, 35 – who tied the knot in 2015, and were married for one year before Heard filed for divorce in 2016 – have been battling it out in court in recent weeks.
The trial, which is still underway in Virginia, is attempting to determine if a 2018 Washington Post essay written by Heard, in which she accused the actor of domestic abuse, defamed Depp.
During Heard’s testimony, the actress alleged that Depp once pushed Moss down a flight of stairs – however, sources say it never happened and that Moss has continued to support her ex-boyfriend throughout the court case.
Heard’s accusations about the former flames have opened the door for Depp’s lawyers to call Moss to the stand as a witness, which is reportedly set to take place on Wednesday.
As Moss prepares to testify, FEMAIL has taken a look back at her wild and tumultuous relationship with Depp.
We broke down the whirlwind romance from start to finish – from how the pair’s random meet up in a New York City café blossomed into one of the most talked about relationships in Hollywood to their many controversies – including ruined hotel rooms resulting in thousands of dollars of damage and drug-ridden parties which ended in someone being hospitalized.
How it all began: The chance meet-up in a New York City café that blossomed into one of the most talked-about romances in Hollywood

Moss and Depp met at a popular New York City café called Tabac in 1994, a year after he split from Winona Ryder – when the model was 20 years old and the actor was 31.
Vanity Fair writer George Wayne later revealed that he was the one who set the two up.
Wayne wrote on Instagram in 2019, ‘Johnny was in the back having dinner and Kate walked in with Naomi [Campbell] and [I] grabbed her and made the introduction!
‘I had no idea that they would then become the IT couple for seasons to come, destroying hotel rooms across the globe during their still unforgettable union.’
According to Moss, she felt an instant connection to the movie star.
‘I knew from the first moment we talked that we were going to be together,’ she once said, according to People.
For three years, the pair was practically inseparable, and they couldn’t keep their hands – or lips – off one another.
One onlooker who once spotted them together in 1994 told the outlet, ‘They can’t keep their hands, lips, mouths, legs off of each other.’
The highs and lows: Inside the couple’s numerous controversies, including trashed hotel rooms and drug-ridden parties
Throughout their romance, the stars were seen arguing many times, and on one occasion in September 1994, a disagreement led to Depp being arrested for trashing a hotel room. They are pictured in April 1994 – just months before the incident
Police said they found Depp ‘in a state of possible intoxication.’ Moss – who was also at the scene – was uninjured. A judge dismissed the charges, and Depp paid $9,767 to the hotel. The couple is pictured in 1995, seven months after the arrest
While it certainly appeared to be filled with many ups, their whirlwind romance also had some downs, as the two stars were seen shouting at each other in public on more than one occasion.
And in September 1994, one heated argument between them resulted in Depp being arrested for criminal mischief.
The actor allegedly trashed their hotel room at the Mark Hotel in Manhattan. Police said they found Depp ‘in a state of possible intoxication.’ Moss – who was also at the scene – was uninjured.
A judge later dismissed the charges, and Depp paid $9,767.12 to the hotel for the damages and the remainder of his bill.
When Moss rang in her 21st birthday in 1996, Depp threw her an enormous party for her at the famous Hollywood club the Viper Room, which he owned at the time.
Unfortunately, the night ended in devastation after one party goer – Australian actor Jason Donovan – had a drug-induced seizure.
He later opened up about the terrifying incident in his 2007 memoir, Between the Lines: My Story Uncut Paperback, according to The Mirror.
‘I had been excited about the party for weeks. Who wouldn’t be? It’s not every day you receive an invitation from Johnny Depp,’ he wrote. ‘I knew that it was going to be the party of all parties.’

Donovan recalled feeling jetlagged and exhausted after flying from Sydney to LA for the party, so he decided to get some drugs.
‘I made a call. It was as easy as ringing for room service, the only difference being that what they were delivering was drugs,’ he recalled.
Unfortunately, the night ended in devastation after one party goer – Australian actor Jason Donovan (pictured in 1990) – had a drug-induced seizure. Thankfully, he fully recovered after being treated at Cedars-Sinai Hospital
‘For a couple of hundred dollars I purchased a large bag of weed and half an ounce of uncut cocaine.
‘It was more coke than I would have ordered if I had been at home, but I didn’t want to run out and have to call the dealer again.’
He did the drugs alone in his hotel room before heading to the Viper Room for the celebration.
He said he continued to do drugs throughout the night until he started to feel sick – right as Depp and Michael Hutchence were taking the stage to perform.
‘I knew the symptoms all too well, for it was not the first time this had happened to me,’ he said.
‘My heart was racing, my vision was blurring and I was becoming disorientated. I tried to steady myself but my legs buckled under me and I fell to the floor.
‘I am not sure what happened next but I do know that someone had pulled the plug on the music and was calling for an ambulance.’
Thankfully, he fully recovered after being treated at Cedars-Sinai Hospital.
Donovan recalled Depp telling him later, after he apologized to the actor, ‘That’s cool, don’t worry. We’re just pleased that you are OK. Now take some advice from me, go to your room, get some sleep and for God’s sake take it easy in future.’
After splitting in 1997, the celebrity couple was spotted hanging out again in 1998 at the Cannes Film Festival, where Moss faced her own hotel problems after she allegedly got in trouble for wearing a bikini in the hallways of the highly acclaimed Hotel du Cap.
She reportedly trashed her hotel room during the stay, and was banned from ever setting foot there again.
Where it all went wrong: A breakdown of why Hollywood’s ‘it’ couple ultimately split up, leaving Moss in ‘tears’ for years
The couple (seen in 1996, one year before things went wrong) was together for three years before they eventually split in 1997. After going their separate ways, Moss admitted that she spent ‘years’ crying over losing the actor
As for why they split, Depp later told Hello magazine that he struggled to balance his busy work schedule with their relationship. The couple is pictured during happier times in February 1994

As for why they split, Depp later told Hello magazine that he struggled to balance his busy work schedule with their relationship.
‘I have never got that emotional over a woman before,’ he said. ‘I have been so stupid because we had so much going for our relationship.
‘I’m the one who has to take responsibility for what happened – I was difficult to get on with, I let my work get in the way and I didn’t give her the attention I should have done.
After Depp split from Moss, he entered into a relationship with Vanessa Paradis. They split in 2012, and he started dating Heard – whom he met on set of The Rum Diary – soon after. Depp and Heard are seen on the red carpet for Rum Diary in 2011
As for Moss, she gave birth to a daughter, named Lila Grace Moss-Hack, in 2002, with Jefferson Hack. She is now dating British-German photographer Nikolai von Bismarck (pictured together in 2020)
‘The whole thing was crazy because I should never have got so worked up over what people had to say about my work.
‘Sure I should care about my movies, but when I get home I should try to leave that stuff behind. I couldn’t do that and I was horrific to live with. Trust me, I’m a total moron at times.’
Rumors started to circulate that the pair had reconciled in January 1998, when an outlet reported that Depp had ordered 36 bottles of champagne to his hotel room in West London so that Moss could take a bath in the bubbly.
However, she denied these claims, explaining that she was not even staying at the hotel at the time.
‘It was not her. It was not Kate, it’s not her style. She doesn’t use the hotel anymore,’ a rep told The Independent.
After Depp split from Moss, he entered into a long-term relationship with French singer Vanessa Paradis, whom he dated for 14 years.
Together, they welcomed a daughter, named Lily-Rose, in 1999, and a son, named Jack, in 2002.
They split in 2012 and he started dating Heard soon after. They got engaged in 2014, and married one year later. In 2016, Heard filed for divorce, and it was finalized in 2017.
As for Moss, she was linked to a few famous faces since her relationship with Depp ended, including Libertines band member Pete Doherty and The Kills guitarist Jamie Hince.
She gave birth to a daughter, named Lila Grace Moss-Hack, in 2002, with Dazed & Confused editor Jefferson Hack.
She is now dating British-German photographer Nikolai von Bismarck.
The defamation trial: How Moss’ testimony could impact Depp’s $100 million lawsuit against Heard
While testifying during the defamation trial, Heard (pictured on the stand on May 4) claimed Depp once pushed Moss down the stairs. She made the allegation while discussing an argument she allegedly had with Depp at the top of a staircase

While testifying during the 2022 defamation trial, Heard claimed that Depp once pushed Moss down the stairs.
Moss has never publicly accused Depp of hurting her, and she has never spoken out about Heard’s claims, but sources say she has been nothing but supportive of Depp throughout the trial. She and Depp are pictured near the start of their relationship in 1994
She made the allegation while discussing an argument that she allegedly had with Depp at the top of a staircase, when she said her sister, Whitney, stepped in between them.
‘She threw herself in the line of fire. She was trying to get Johnny to stop. Her back was to the staircase, and Johnny swings at her. I don’t hesitate and wait – I instantly think of Kate Moss and stairs,’ she claimed.
Heard made similar claims during the 2020 trial between Depp and the British outlet The Sun, whom he sued for describing him as a ‘wife-beater’ while covering his relationship with Heard.
‘He pushed Kate Moss down the stairs, I heard this from two people, and this was fresh in my mind,’ Heard told the jury at the time.

By mentioning the alleged misconduct during the court case, Heard inadvertently allowed Depp’s lawyers to call Moss as a witness to discuss the rumor, and she is now gearing up to take the stand to testify on Wednesday.
After Heard brought up the allegation, Depp’s legal team could be seen fist bumping and celebrating over the opportunity.
‘That’s one mistake that [Heard] made, was bringing up Kate Moss, which potentially opened the door to [Depp’s team] bringing [Moss] on as an impeachment witness, and say, ‘This never happened,” California entertainment lawyer Mitra Ahouraian told the New York Post after Heard first made the allegations.
