Katy Perry dove tail-first into Sunday’s episode of American Idol. The judge went all-out for the singing competition’s annual Disney night, where she arrived dressed in a Little Mermaid costume featuring a cartoon-like red wig and a turquoise tail. Sure, it might seem a little extra (her co-judges didn’t even attempt to dress according to theme), but this is the same woman who wore a giant cheeseburger outfit to the the Met Gala.

While Perry’s outfit pulled plenty of eyes, it also literally pulled her to the ground. While longtime host Ryan Seacrest began to introduce the show’s Top 10 competitors, an audible thud and collective gasp could be heard in the background as Perry toppled in her chair.

Just moments before, she had been posing precariously with fellow judges Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan. The “Firework” singer had been resting her tail on the judge’s table while she leaned back in her chair while wielding Ariel’s signature fork in one hand.

The moment Perry fell, Seacrest exclaimed “Oh!” and rushed over to the table to help her get up. Returning Perry to her chair proved to be a three-man job; with her legs encased in her tail, Seacrest, Richie and Bryan — who couldn’t stop cackling at Perry’s tumble — had to assist her while Perry lay laughing on the floor.

Perry was hardly shaken by her fall, and waved dramatically to the audience while Seacrest, Richie and Bryan hoisted her up and placed her back in her chair. Richie was particularly pumped, throwing his first in the air and shouting, “Yeah baby!” after Perry was safely seated.

The audience even offered their support, chanting Perry’s name as she regained her composure and took a sip of water. The singer is far more likely to remain in her seat and out of an outrageous costume for Monday’s Idol episode, dubbed The Great Idol Reunion. The episode will feature fan-favorite past competitors, plus original judges Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson.

American Idol airs Sundays and Mondays at 8/7c on ABC.
