Katy Perry to blast off on Bezos’s Blue Origin TODAY: Details of space trip after star’s ‘last min astronaut lessons’

KATY PERRY will blast off into orbit today in what will be the world’s first all-female space mission for more than 60 years.

The pop star is being sent to the stars on Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin rocket, which will launch from Texas today.

Joining her will be author Lauren Sanchez, journalist Gayle King, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen, ex-NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, and film producer Kerianne Flynn.

Perry has been undergoing last minute preparations before the historic trip – sharing pics and videos on her Instagram.

She stated: “I remind myself daily, saying, ‘You’re courageous, you’re daring, and you’re doing this to inspire the next generation, particularly young girls, to think, ‘I’ll venture into space one day.’ No barriers.”

Perry’s journey to space will only be brief – with the trip only expected to last around 11 minutes.

The rocket will take off at around 2.30pm UK time today, 8.30am in Texas.

  • Katy Perry’s intergalactic adventure ‘written in the stars’

Katy Perry said in a video on Instagram that she has received two “confirmations” about her trip to space.

The popstar mentioned: “My mother gave me two nicknames: Feather and Tortoise. What are the odds that I’m traveling to space in a capsule on a rocket named Tortoise, with my symbol being a feather?”

“There are no coincidences, and I’m just so grateful for these confirmations and so grateful that I feel like something bigger than me is steering the ship.”

  • What will Katy Perry be wearing to space?

The all-female space mission will be entering the cosmos in custom-made flared jumpsuits.

The striking blue suits have been designed by Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim – the co-founders of the luxury brand Monse.

To make sure the made-to-measure outfits are the perfect fit each crew member had to have a 3D body scan.
