LAKE CITY, Fla. – The Lake City Police Department said Tuesday that a warrant was issued for the arrest of a man accused of stabbing a 49-year-old with a pitchfork.

Police said they looking for Ryan McCartney, 37, in connection with the stabbing, which was reported shortly before 8:30 a.m. Monday. Police said he is wanted on a charge of attempted second-degree murder.

According to the Police Department, an investigation revealed that McCartney was upset after a verbal altercation and threw a pitchfork at the 49-year-old. The victim suffered multiple stab wounds to the head and neck and was taken to a hospital, and McCartney took off, police said.

“Honestly, it was not too surprising,” said a neighbor who News4JAX has chosen not to identify as a safety precaution.

After Monday morning’s stabbing at a home on Northwest Palm Drive, police K-9 units could be seen on surveillance video searching the area.

McCartney is considered dangerous, police said. Police advise that if you see him, do not approach him — call 911 instead.

If you have any information about this incident, you’re asked to call LCPD at 386-752-4343.

On Tuesday, when News4JAX went to the Northwest Palm Drive home to get additional information about the stabbing, police, federal marshals and Columbia County deputies were conducting a raid. Several people were being detained outside the home while the place was searched. Then we saw a man being led to a patrol unit, and an officer at the scene confirmed he was being charged with an offense. The people who were released from being detained did not want to comment about the raid or the stabbing.
