A six-year-old boy has recalled the ‘horrible’ moment he was attacked by a British bulldog which left him having to undergo two surgeries on his arm.
Teddy Bracek and his dad Andy were at Tommy’s Italian in Currumbin on the Gold Coast at 8am on Sunday when the youngster asked a man standing outside the cafe if he could pat his dog.
The owner reportedly said Teddy could pat the dog but as seen in shocking CCTV, the animal instead launches at Teddy, jumping up and attacking the little boy who flees into his father’s arms.
The owner is then seen grabbing the leash, attempting to restrain the animal but as Mr Bracek is consoling the young boy the dog once again launches at the child before it is dragged away.
Teddy Bracek was taken to hospital where he underwent two surgeries on his arm after he was attacked by a dog outside a Gold Coast cafe
Mr Bracek said his son sustained a 10-12cm long wound which was 1.5cm wide and 1.5cm deep.
‘It felt horrible. It ripped my arm,’ Teddy told Seven News.
Mr Bracek said he initially thought the bulldog was just playing, before it became more aggressive.
‘Thank god it wasn’t any higher, or it would have nicked his artery. If it would have nicked his artery, it would have been a lot worse,’ he said, adding his son’s arm was left ‘wide open’.

Teddy remains in hospital after his surgeries.
His father earlier told the Gold Coast Bulletin the dog’s owner had made a ‘half-a**ed’ effort to restrain the animal, and was ‘irate’, he didn’t come back to check on Teddy.
‘If he came back and sorted it everything would’ve been okay but I’m p*ssed off and disturbed that this man has put his dog’s welfare before a child’s,’ he said.
‘To be honest in that moment I felt like smashing the dog’s head in.’
Mr Bracek said the owner has since reached out and has apologised, offering to pay for any medical bills and to euthanise the dog.
Gold Coast Councillor Hermann Vorster said the incident was being investigated and the dog may be declared menacing or dangerous, which could mean it may be put down.
