Singer Rita Ora, known for her past eco-friendly claims, is facing her neighbors’ wrath over plans to construct a massive gym in the sunken garden of her £7.5 million home.
At 34, the singer purchased the Grade II listed Primrose Hill property in North London four years ago and now intends to remove outdoor features that have existed for nearly 150 years.
Neighbors have fiercely opposed the proposal, labeling it an eyesore. They accuse Rita of hypocrisy for jeopardizing a delicate natural habitat.
In their letter to Camden Council, they point out the irony of Rita’s previous statements about preserving the garden as a refuge for wildlife, including butterflies, robins, herons, and even peacocks.
The letter argues that destroying this natural ecology to build a contemporary gym clashes with the property’s heritage and tranquility.
Adding to the awkwardness, their complaint references an article Rita wrote for Architectural Digest, where she praised her garden as her ‘little piece of heaven’ and a haven for butterflies.

‘I didn’t want to put too much electrical stuff in this part because I really felt like the whole point of this sunken bit of garden is to be a garden.’
But her neighbours warn the gym building will shatter the peace and may cause sound and light disturbances.
It’s not Rita’s first noise row either – the Hot Right Now singer clashed with locals at two previous London mansions. A spokesman for the star declined to comment.
