Production on Michael B. Jordan’s upcoming action thriller Miami Vice ’85 was reportedly interrupted Friday night after a man allegedly displayed a knife near the set.
The film, which also stars Austin Butler, is currently being shot and is scheduled to arrive in theaters in May 2028.
A New York Police Department representative told Our News Outlet that a “verbal dispute” broke out at about 11:15 p.m. between a person near the production and a man identified as 23-year-old Alex Perez.
According to the NYPD, Perez “displayed a knife,” prompting the other individual to fear for his safety.
Officers responded and took Perez into custody without incident. Police also recovered the knife, and no injuries were reported, the NYPD said.
It remains unclear whether Jordan, 39, was present on the set when the incident occurred Friday.

Miami Vice ’85 serves as a reboot of the popular 1980s television series Miami Vice, which starred Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas.

The cast also includes Walton Goggins, John Leguizamo, Haley Lu Richardson, Camila Morrone, Dominic Sessa and Danny Ramirez.
The movie was originally scheduled for release in August 2027 but has since been pushed back to May 19, 2028, according to Deadline.
