GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Jonathan Darrell Adams, 38, was arrested yesterday morning and charged with sexual assault and false imprisonment after a woman reported that he raped her after she went to his Majestic Oaks apartment with her toddler to smoke marijuana.
Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call from the victim at 5:30 a.m. yesterday; she reportedly said that “Jon” raped her and forced her to take pills and that her two-year-old was in the room during the incident. Both the woman and child were transported to the hospital.
Deputies made contact with Adams at the location given by the victim and reported that he is the only tenant at that address. Deputies reported that the victim was able to pick Adams out of a photo line-up.
Deputies reported that the victim was wearing men’s clothes except for her bra when they interviewed her; she said that she only knew “Jon” as someone she smoked with occasionally and that she brought her child to Adams’ apartment Friday night to smoke. She reportedly told deputies that after smoking with Adams, he sexually assaulted her, and when she told him to stop, he gave her more pills. She said the pills made her feel like she could not control her body and that at some point early Tuesday morning, Adams made her shower and gave her the clothes she was wearing at the hospital. She said she remembered her toddler sitting across the room, watching videos on the phone, at some point during the incident.
Deputies are pursuing a search warrant of Adams’ apartment.
Adams has one felony conviction for domestic battery by strangulation and six misdemeanor convictions (one violent). Bail information is unavailable.
