A man is due to appear in court following charges related to a suspected fatal hit-and-run incident that occurred last week in Sydney’s north-west.

Emergency services were alerted around 7:45 p.m. on a Sunday evening when a passing motorist discovered a man lying approximately three meters away from Old Kurrajong Road in Richmond. Despite the motorist’s efforts to assist the 23-year-old victim until paramedics arrived, the young man tragically succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Police promptly secured the area, creating a crime scene that underwent thorough examination by specialist officers. It was determined that the victim had been struck by a vehicle that allegedly did not stop following the collision.

Roughly an hour after the initial incident, authorities responded to a report of a Nissan Navara utility veering off Kurmond Road in North Richmond and crashing into bushland. Emergency responders attended to a 41-year-old man at the scene, who sustained minor injuries. He was subsequently transported to Westmead Hospital for mandatory assessment.

The unfolding events have led to the man facing legal proceedings as authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.

A 41-year-old man was treated at the scene by paramedics for minor injuries before being taken to Westmead Hospital for mandatory assessment.

A secondary crime scene was established at the paddock, and the vehicle was seized for forensic examination.

Following further inquiries, at around 5.45pm yesterday, officers arrested a 41-year-old man at an address in McGraths Hill.

He was taken to Windsor Police Station, where he was charged with multiple offences, including driving under the influence of alcohol, negligent driving occasioning death and failing to stop and assist after a vehicle impact causing death.

He was refused bail and is scheduled to appear in court today.
