Rudy Youngblood, known for his lead role in Mel Gibson’s critically acclaimed film “Apocalypto,” finds himself entangled in legal issues once again. This comes just two months after his previous arrest for assault.

Authorities in Texas apprehended Youngblood on Wednesday due to an outstanding warrant linked to drug possession allegations, according to reports from TMZ.

The actor was booked at Henderson County Jail for allegedly possessing between one and four grams of a controlled substance. This charge is classified as a felony and could potentially result in a prison sentence of up to two years along with a $10,000 fine.

The arrest unfolded when Youngblood was initially stopped for speeding. During the stop, a routine check brought the outstanding warrant to light, leading to his subsequent arrest.

Youngblood was detained without resistance and, as of Friday morning, he remains in custody.

This incident adds to Youngblood’s list of legal troubles, which includes a previous arrest in October 2025. In that case, he faced charges for allegedly assaulting a family or household member by obstructing their breathing or circulation.

He also has a previous arrest on his record – in 2017, Miami police charged him with disorderly intoxication, but the case was eventually dismissed. 

During his October 2025 arrest, authorities say Youngblood was taken into custody after a warrant was issued accusing him of ‘assaulting a family or household member by impeding their breathing or circulation.’

Officials said that the warrant came to light after a vehicle was reported parked near a Lake Belton boat ramp at around 12:20 a.m.

Police allege a white crystalline substance was found on Youngblood during the arrest.

Corey Powell, public information officer for the Bell County Sheriff’s Office, told the Daily Mail: ‘Rudy Youngblood was arrested by the Belton, Texas Police Department and booked into the Bell County Jail on October 15, 2025, at 12:31 a.m., on an outstanding warrant issued out of the Austin Municipal Court on the felony charge of assault family/household member, impede breath or circulation. 

‘He is currently in custody on a $20,000 bond and awaiting transport to Travis County.’

According to the Bell County Inmate Inquiry portal, Youngblood faced a third-degree felony charge for ‘assault on a family/household member, impede breath/circulation.’

This comes less than a year after Youngblood was released from jail in Athens, Greece, following a confrontation with police.

Greek reports say he was stopped in the early hours of 27 December 2025 for allegedly being intoxicated and threatening officers with a knife. 

He claimed the officers were not wearing identifying insignia and did not explain his rights.

The Texas-born actor was charged with resisting arrest, making threats, and carrying a weapon after being found with a pocketknife. 

He received a 10-month suspended prison sentence but remained in custody due to an expired visa, prompting a deportation order – which he later successfully appealed, leaving Greece voluntarily.

Youngblood first rose to fame playing Jaguar Paw in Apocalypto, a role that saw his character flee as Mayan civilization neared its collapse.

He previously had another legal incident in 2017, when he was arrested in a Miami casino for disorderly intoxication; the charge was later dropped, TMZ reported at the time.

Apocalypto, spoken entirely in Mayan, was a box office hit, grossing over $120 million worldwide.

Reflecting on working with Mel Gibson in a 2006 People interview, Youngblood said: ‘Mel is a great guy – very smart. We automatically clicked and came together.’

He added, ‘He would look at me, and I knew what he wanted. He helped me a lot because this was my first film.’

Most recently, Youngblood appeared in the 2023 horror film The Haunting of Hell Hole Mine.
