A 26-year-old Texas woman reported missing last week was found dead this week beneath a home in Fort Worth.

Marissa Grimes’s parents reported her missing from Arlington on February 16, saying they hadn’t seen her since February 12, according to KDFW.

Police have named 24-year-old Valerian Osteen, who was previously released on bond in a domestic violence case against Grimes, as a suspect in her death.

When Osteen was released in early January, a protective order was issued to keep him away from Grimes, the mother of two children. He has not been charged with her death, but his bond was revoked on the domestic violence charge, and he is back in custody.

Fort Worth police said on Monday this week that they’d found a moving truck connected with Grimes’s disappearance with her purse inside. Further information led them to Osteen’s home in west Fort Worth, and a search warrant there found the body.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office positively identified the body on Friday; an autopsy will determine the cause of death, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported.

According to court records, Osteen was arrested on January 9 after allegedly holding Grimes against her will, pointing a gun at her and “intentionally or knowingly threatening imminent bodily injury to Grimes.” He was charged with unlawful restraint/exposure to serious bodily injury.

Osteen bonded out of jail on January 13.

Police said additional charges are expected to be filed soon against Osteen.
