Expressing concern over the “considerable loss of life,” Ley, alongside Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, encouraged citizens to heed guidance from law enforcement and pertinent authorities.
“This heinous act unfolded during the Chanukah by the Sea event, a gathering meant to celebrate peace and optimism, now marred by an act of hatred,” she continued.
“I stand in solidarity with Australia’s Jewish community tonight, especially those residing in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, people with whom I share a deep connection.”
Larissa Waters, leader of the Greens, also voiced her distress, expressing her sorrow over the tragic loss of lives at Bondi.
“Everyone has the right to feel secure, and such incidents of gun violence are both heartbreaking and frightening,” she stated on social media.
