Musk demolishes Trump's claim that Democrats created Epstein 'hoax'

Elon Musk sharply criticized Donald Trump on Wednesday after the president tried to portray Jeffrey Epstein’s infamous sex trafficking scandal as merely a ‘hoax’ fabricated by the Democrats.

The Tesla billionaire countered the president’s latest assertion by highlighting some obvious points – including the fact that Epstein’s former associate Ghislaine Maxwell is still incarcerated in federal prison.

‘Wow, amazing that Epstein “killed himself” and Ghislaine is in federal prison for a hoax,’ the SpaceX CEO posted on his X account.

‘He should just release the files and point out which part is the hoax,’ he added in another post.

Musk’s barrage criticism Wednesday crystallized the growing discontent from Trump’s MAGA base over his handling of the Epstein files.

Anti-trans activist Riley Gaines bashed the president for saying people who wanted more answers on Epstein were either ‘stupid’ or ‘foolish.’

Trump’s favorite comedian, Shane Gillis, joked that he was set to make a comment about Epstein at the ESPYS ‘but I guess it got deleted’ and in fact ‘probably never existed.’

Amid the onslaught, Attorney General Pam Bondi fired the Manhattan federal prosecutor who gathered all the federal evidence on Epstein while working to put both him and Maxwell behind bars.

The prosecutor who was fired, Maureen Comey, is the daughter of former FBI Director James Comey.

Maureen Comey argued in 2024 against releasing documents related to the Epstein investigation due to ‘possible embarrassment and harassment’ of the victims.

Meanwhile, Trump has claimed her father James Comey simply ‘made up’ the existence of the Epstein files, along with former President Obama and Hillary Clinton.

Wednesday’s backlash began when Trump weighed in on Epstein during an appearance in the Oval Office.

‘I know it’s a hoax. It’s started by Democrats,’ the president claimed while meeting with the Crown Prince of Bahrain.

‘It’s been run by the Democrats for four years,’ he continued, despite promising on the campaign trail that he would release all of the files related to the sex pest.

Trump went on to hit out at ‘some stupid Republicans and foolish Republicans’ who buy into the idea that Epstein kept a client list, and accused them of trying to ‘do the Democrats’ work.’

Musk was emboldened, posting about Epstein 13 times in just over an hour Wednesday afternoon, according to the Daily Beast.

He shared his outrage that ‘not a single Epstein client has been prosecuted,’ and argued in a separate post that ‘so many people want that list suppressed.’

He also responded to a scathing post by influencer Kaizen Asiedu.

‘Trump’s team hyped the release. Trump’s team fumbled the release. Yet Trump is blaming the Democrats and insulting his supporters for the consequences of his actions,’ Asiedu wrote.

The SpaceX CEO summed up Trump’s excuses with a blunt assessment: ‘1. Admit nothing 2. Deny everything 3. Make counterclaims.

‘But it won’t work this time,’ he vowed, after previously warning that the Trump administration’s ruling on the Epstein case would be the ‘final straw’ for many within the president’s party.

Musk had previously claimed Trump was named in the financier’s client list

Many within Trump’s base have even accused the administration of a cover-up to protect high-profile individuals who may have engaged in Epstein’s sex trafficking ring.

Adding fuel to the fire are FBI Director Kash Patel and Deputy Director Dan Bongino’s previous assertions that Epstein may have been murdered in jail and that he held a ‘client list’ that he used as blackmail.

‘There is something there, and it’s being covered up, and the president blessed it,’ former Fox News host Megyn Kelly suggested during Monday’s episode of The Megyn Kelly Show

‘I didn’t say, “There’s a child sex ring that he’s actively covering up”… but I think there’s some middle ground.’

Megyn Kelly has also slammed Attorney General Pam Bondi for making ‘multiple inconsistent statements’ after apparently claiming in February that Epstein’s client list was ‘sitting on [her] desk right now to review,’ but denying now that there ever was such a document.

Trump, though, has stood by his attorney general, and gave her verbal permission to release certain materials related to the case on Wednesday.

‘Whatever is credible she can release. If a document is credible, if a document’s there that is credible, she can release,’ Trump said, after previously arguing his attorney general has more important work to do than spend months looking into the case files.

In another apparent effort to quell the MAGA uprising, Trump suggested he would appoint a special prosecutor who could further investigate Epstein’s connections – though the president seemed more interested in proving his Democratic hoax claims.

In an interview with John Solomon of JustTheNews.com, Trump said he supported the idea of having an independent investigator look into the Epstein files – as well as the weaponization of the Department of Justice against conservatives in the 2016 election.

‘I think they could look at all of it. It’s all the same scam. They could look at this Jeffrey Epstein hoax also, because that’s the same stuff that’s all put out by Democrats,’ Trump said when asked what he’d most like to see the FBI investigate.

He then went on to express concerns that former intelligence and law enforcement officials could have tampered with evidence surrounding Epstein case.

‘I can imagine what they put into files, just like they did with the others. I mean, the Steele dossier was a total fake, right? It took two years to figure that out,’ he said, referring to former FBI directors James Comey and Christopher Wray’s investigation into claims Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign colluded with Russian operatives.

‘But they ought to look into the Jeffrey Epstein hoax too, because that’s another hoax that’s frankly, put out by the Democrats pushing, pushing the Republicans, and put out by the Democrats,’ he added.

Meanwhile it appears Maxwell is willing to testify to Congress about her knowledge of the Epstein files.

The heiress is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence in Florida after she was convicted in June 2022 for conspiring with her boss Epstein in the sexual exploitation of minors.

‘Despite the rumors, Ghislaine was never offered any kind of plea deal,’ an insider previously told the Daily Mail.

‘She would be more than happy to sit before Congress and tell her story,’ the source continued. ‘No-one from the government has ever asked her to share what she knows.

‘She remains the only person to be jailed in connection to Epstein and she would welcome the chance to tell the American public the truth.’

The source added that ‘congressional hearings have been held into everything from JFK’s assassination to 9/11’ and argued that ‘the Epstein files rank up there with those cases.’
