Missing boater Lynette Hooker was arrested a decade before Bahamas disappearance

Lynette Hooker, the missing boater who reportedly vanished after falling overboard from a dinghy in the Bahamas, has a past involving a domestic incident with her husband. According to official records, the 55-year-old mother was previously detained overnight following a physical altercation with her spouse.

In 2015, authorities were called to the Hooker residence in Kentwood, Michigan, due to a domestic violence report, as detailed by NBC News. Upon arrival, police found Brian Hooker, Lynette’s husband, in a state of intoxication with blood streaming from his nose, as described in the arrest documentation.

Brian Hooker alleged that his wife, who he claimed had also been drinking, struck him in the face four to five times during their confrontation. The report highlighted his emotional reaction, noting, “He stated he had never been hit like that in a long time. He started to cry and became emotional.”

Lynette Hooker, on the other hand, recounted a different version of events. She accused her husband of hitting her on the forehead and alleged that he subsequently choked and punched her.

“He stated he had never been hit like that in a long time. He started to cry and became emotional,” the report noted.

Lynette, however, claimed her husband had hit her in the forehead before allegedly choking and punching her once.

The police report indicated that Lynette didn’t appear to have any injuries.

The drunken confrontation apparently unfolded when Lynette had tried to get into a bedroom that her kids were fooling around in.

The husband claimed he was trying to calm his wife down, the report charges.

Lynette ended up being arrested on charges of assault and battery/simple assault and spent the night in the slammer.

The warrant was eventually denied though because there was “insufficient evidence as to who started the assault,” according to the report.

The details of their tumultuous relationship surfaced only after Brian was arrested Wednesday in connection with his wife’s disappearance.

Authorities have been searching for the missing mom ever since Brian reported that she had fallen into the water and was swept away by powerful currents while they were returning in a dinghy to their yacht, Soulmate, off the coast of the Bahamas.

Brian claimed his wife had the boat key on her when she went overboard, causing the engine to cut off and forcing him to paddle back to the marina.

He was taken into custody after Lynette’s daughter from a previous relationship raised the alarm.

“I do believe something might have happened to her,” the daughter, Karli Aylesworth, told Fox News.

“There’s history of him choking her out and threatening to throw her overboard. So the fact that this is actually happening makes me believe there’s more to the story.”

Brian’s attorney said he has been “cooperating with the relevant authorities as part of an ongoing investigation” in the wake of his arrest.
