In a recent development in Washington County, Tennessee, News Channel 11 has obtained court documents that shed light on the arrest of Tyler Harmon, aged 39, as well as his employment record with Sullivan County Schools. These documents provide insight into the charges and timeline of events that led to his arrest.

Tyler Harmon faces serious allegations, including two counts of sexual battery by an authority figure and three counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. These charges stem from incidents that reportedly occurred on various dates between July 1, 2024, and November 25, 2024.

The charges of sexual battery allege that Harmon engaged in illegal sexual activities with a minor aged between 13 and 18. Meanwhile, the charges related to contributing to the delinquency of a minor are linked to specific dates: November 8, 2024, November 11, 2024, and November 26, 2024, as outlined in the court presentment.

Reviewing Harmon’s professional background, records from Sullivan County Schools reveal that he was employed as a math teacher starting in September 2021. However, his career faced a turning point when he was placed on administrative leave on May 22, 2025, following the school’s awareness of the alleged misconduct.

Subsequently, Harmon tendered his resignation in June 2025. In his resignation letter, he cited personal health and family reasons as the cause for his departure from the teaching position.

Harmon resigned in June 2025. In his resignation letter, Harmon said the reason for resigning was personal health and family reasons.

According to the Johnson City Police Department, the allegations were reported to JCPD on May 27, 2025. JCPD also said they promptly notified Johnson City Schools and Sullivan County Schools, and the charges pertaining to Harmon’s arrest stem from one victim.

The Tennessee Department of Children’s Services said it is also conducting an investigation but could not provide any additional details.

News Channel 11 also reached out to Johnson City Schools (JCS) for Harmon’s personnel file there. JCS said it is working on the request.

Harmon is now out of jail on a $20,000 bond.
