While outrage mobs may wish for the worst for comedian Dave Chappelle, it would appear that Netflix is siding with the comedian after an attempted attack by a Los Angeles man.

As RedState previously reported, Chappelle was attacked on stage during his bit while performing at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles during the “Netflix is a Joke” festival. A young man can be seen climbing onto the stage and attempting to tackle Chappelle. Security, as well as a few fellow celebrities, ran down the man as he tried to escape and proceeded to beat him until he was battered and bruised with his right arm sticking out in an odd direction.

Chappelle made the joke that it was a trans man after going backstage and getting his licks in himself. The comment prompted more outrage from the online mobs but as for everyone else, they thought the man got his just desserts. The man was also charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon on top of all his injuries.

Netflix seems to be unfazed by the mobs as well as it proceeded to release a statement regarding the attack, and they’re clearly siding with Chappelle.

“We care deeply about the safety of creators and we strongly defend the right of stand-up comedians to perform on stage without fear of violence,” said a Netflix spokesperson according to Variety.

A bit neutral and dry, but it is missing a typical corporate element.

It’s interesting that the “we respect all people of all races, creeds, and genders” corporate speak was left out of the statement. It would appear that Netflix doesn’t seem to see the need to prostrate itself before the altar of transgenderism after a transgender walkout resulted in nothing but a handful of employees standing outside the building and some media attention that went almost nowhere.

To be fair, an actual attack on a beloved comedian might be a step too far. It’s also still not entirely clear why Chappelle’s attacker, Isaiah Lee, tried to harm the comedian, though it’s likely the transgender activist mob ginned up enough anger for this to happen.

Chappelle is cooperating with authorities on its investigation and we will likely know soon enough what the motive behind Lee’s attack was.
